Just bring Butch back

I’ll get flamed for this, but I seriously think our best option at this point is probably just bringing Butch back. Plus it would save us money since we are already paying his buyout anyway. I just think Butch is about the best coach we are going to be able to get at this point. The guy lit it up with recruiting, loved Tennessee, gave us a couple 9 win seasons, won 3 straight bowl games, and broke our losing streak to Florida. We got impatient when we had a bad season in 2017, but looking back, firing him certainly looks like a bad decision now. We could perhaps keep Pruitt on the staff as DC and maybe even retain Chaney too.

I'm always a little confused with these threads; do some people actually believe we could just demote Pruitt to DC, keep Chaney as OC, and bring Butch back as HC? That's not how any of this works!

That isnt remotely true with regard to CBJ. He was furius and embarassed he was let go. He did want to be here and was excited as hell when his teams won some big games.

Doubt we will ever see Pruitt give two ***** whether or we win..certainly wont see him celebrating a victory. Assuming we can actually get another one in his tenured.
I actually agree with you. I disliked Butch Jones from the day he stepped on campus, but I never faulted his enthusiasm or respect for the job he lucked into. He knew he had won life’s lottery with this job, and was truly appreciative to be here. I believe he WANTED to be the coach at Tennessee, and to be successful at it...it was just too big for him.

I have also disliked Jeremy Pruitt since he arrived. He’s easily as bad a coach, without all the warm fuzzy feelings. I don’t believe he likes it here, or appreciates the position he’s in. I can’t find one positive from his tenure here to point to...and he’s even a more embarrassing personality than BJ. Who thought that was possible?

If take Kiffin or Dools back first. I hate Kiff with a passion. But he's a better coach. Dools is probably as bad as Butch, but at least his pressers are entertaining.
