Jumbotron Update

LOL indeed, that would be the biggest no no in my line of work. It's bad luck to try to curse another school anyway. Sky Monkey Credo #9 "You curse it, you bought it" :)

good stuf, skymonkey. is the last timeline of completion you mentioned to us, still running on track?

Isn't the back of the tron still open. If there was a "tshirt", couldn't you see it SM??

You can still see into the back, I won't cover those holes until next week. It'd be hard to see something like that way up there but rest assured there are UT techs up there most of the time doing video wiring and learning about there new toy and opening up all 168 video cabinets. We won't hide anything up there except maybe a small sign saying the SkyMonkeys built this in honor of all the great Vol fans that treated them like family when we were on their turf.

wait 'til you see the photos I have for you today. It's getting pretty sweet.

Awesome work guys. It's going to be a treat to sit there in my seats and watch the Voltron. It's looking sweet.

The campus in the background makes this a nice angle

Let's all thank mother nature for further delaying the completion of this beautiful piece of artwork. It looks to me like about half of the board was powered up, correct?

1/3 is powered up, we were working on the next third when mother nature wanted to make her presence known. We'll get it all powered up tomorrow with any kind of decent weather.

Not sure which timeline I last gave but we'll have it lit up tomorrow, lit up for sure, the video feed should be hooked up as well which will mean you'll see something besides test patterns. The rest of the header sign goes up tomorrow, the Power T is for some reason (the trucking company still hasn't explained it well) was delayed and will go up Saturday when it arrives. The back cabinets arrive Monday and I'll go to work on them right away but the engineer of record has added a bunch of steel framing from the original design and I'll have to see how that goes, should be 1 cabinet a day on the back.

Obviously the trucking company gusy are VOLS fans and just want to be near that gorgeous Power T as long as they can!! :dance2:

Skymonkey and Junglebeaver, you do know what kind of ovation you and your guys would receive if they could get you onto the field at the first game and introduce you. Neyland would go bananas!!!

Man that thing is looking awesome. You didn't lie at all when you said today's pics would blow our minds. Thanks SM and JB!!!!!

That is unbelievable!!!!

As big and flat as it is, how much wind can it take?

Being next to the river and nearly 200' tall it had to be designed as wind exposure D, the highest wind exposure category. I'm a little fuzzy here and would have to check the actual numbers (we pay engineers for this) but I'm certain it's designed for wind speeds of at least 100 mph and gusts over that.

That is very stout for a piece of equipment that has so much surface area!

Sorry if this has been touched on already, but is it going to have "VOLS" on the top? Looks great guys.

This is just blowing me away. Stunning work guys, continued thanks from Volnation.

Thanks for the updates. I noticed the video boards don't go all the way to the edges. I suppose there will be a some kind of border then?

Wouldn't it be something if they offered to let y'all run through the T on the first game this season.
