That would be awesome! If I'm here for the first game though, I would be seriously behind schedule and they would probably flog me on the Power T for your enjoyment :vava:

Oh and yes, it will have a black, blank border/flashing all the way around.That starts going up Friday.

:lolabove: There are a lot of finishing touches remaining and this is where one day means so much. The less time remaining means less room for error, or bad weather, or delayed shipments. It's pucker factor 9 and rising.

I think they still have a good amount to go. The cabinets on the back, the flashing on the sides, the header on top. Plus they are having to deal with the weather. My hats off to y'all.:3083yourock:

Skymonkey, what are those pieces of metal protuding from the top of the videoboard? Looks to be 6 of them.

Because I haven't heard definitively, the V-O-L-S will not be on the new Jumbotron? I know it will say Home of the Vols at the bottom, but if that is true, I will certainly miss it.

Those are the I-beams that support the swing stages we use to work on the face and back without the crane. One platform, 40' wide, supported by (2) 3/8" cables going through (2) individul motors that carry it up and down the sign and all the way to the ground if necessary, that's how you start out. Here is a couple pictures showing what we had to do to get it up the first day.

Those 6 I-beams will stay as the changing of the pictures on the rear backlit cabinets will have to happen from swing stages. It is too expensive to hire that crane I'm using every year or two to change the copy on those signs. They'll be painted black to match so you shouldn't notice them too much.

the pictures are amazing as usual, but i just realized that this thing is gonna stick out like a sore thumb when it's finished. The entire stadium has a tan look to it and then there's....the black voltron. But mabey im saying things too soon! :eek:k:

i don't know if this has been covered yet or not, but how will the voltron compare in size to texas' godzillatron? i know at the start of the thread it was speculated that the voltron would be bigger, but has anyone found out the actual dimensions for proof?

It will not be bigger than Texas's Godzillatron. It will be the largest in the SEC though.

I posted all of the measurements somewhere earlier in this thread.
