Or be a colossal flop seeing as though what you're suggesting doesn't exactly always work out that way. Sounds like you are around a lot of people who seems to worship Bama to the point of losing all objectivity.
I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with DE1 on this. They're still absolutely LOADED. The worst part is that with a coach like Saban, who has possibly the most secure HC job in the country, you have plenty of time to go on and begin succession planning for his departure too. Saban will go out on his own terms, and he's likely given the school plenty of advance warning so they can find a suitable replacement, unfortunately. Will there be some drop off? Of course, but until Bama starts getting beat consistently on the field, they will be a powerhouse sadly.
No need to hate that, its a fact and then when a major Power 5 coach who's already won a NC becomes their coach like a Jimbo, Dabo, Urban, or a Harbaugh, Franklin, Herman, etc in the 2nd tier who can recruit and still carry on what Saban built they'll still be a monster. What ppl hv to realize is the cupboard is stacked, so all they hv to do is keep it coming and the product will still be dominant. I hate it more than many as I deal with a many of Alabama implants moving here for jobs, but its the truth.
I don't think those top coaches leave for Alabama. Herman would be a hard pull from Texas. Now Franklin at PSU could be the one I see leaving to take the Bama job. The others are elite jobs with similar talent to Alabama.
Not at all just like they bought Saban, they'll buy the next. Just look at what they've done to try and buy success in basketball. Bama doesn't care about the money people. They'll buy a Dabo, Jimbo, etc because they want to win. They hit a bad streak and never want to return to that again. Please be unbiased some programs just are willing to do what it takes and their 1 of them which is why they sit atop the totem pole right now. Meanwhile Hamilton hired 2 that didnt work and Hart has CBJ who has improved the program tremendously but as of today I couldnt see winning a NC. Likewise I do understand all big splash hires don't work out.
Jordan Davis now has the same answer for anyone when asked how strong his Alabama verbal commitment is.
"It's 2,000 percent, like I always say," said Davis, an outside linebacker from Memphis, Tenn., who committed to Alabama last December.
"Right now, I don't know (if he'll make other visits)," Davis said. "It all depends on where my mama wants to go visit to. Most visits, I just take to go on vacation and help my mama and little brother experience new things."
Need to get Mama on campus to have a chance. We need an elite DE in this class after not landing one last year. Missing Ray hurt us. We need to get Davis or Azeez. Doesn't look like we're landing Azeez, Davis wants to play with Carvin and apparently almost flipped on his visit until mama vetoed it. Need to put on a full court press if we have a chance.
It's simple, If we want Davis we need to offer more to the mom than Bama has. I personally don't think he's worth it.
