'20 JUCO DE Jordan Davis (Mississippi State commit)

How does that matter though? If her son is showing genuine interest in another school, then she it owes it to him to at least expose herself to the opportunity to be persuaded just as he did. It's his life, and she shouldn't hamstring him. The appearance sure seems to be that she either doesn't like Tennessee, or there are some incentive$ for him to go to Bama. The difference in distance sure isn't reason alone to make her take such a stand.

His mom has certainly made a "Deal" with Bama. Why else would she tell her own son that he's not doing this or that without some sort of agreement? Davis wants to go to UT but his mom is holding him back so he can stay with Bama.

this is a little strong. Davis is seriously considering UT; but at least I haven't seen him actually say he favors one over the other.

Yes, at least not publicly. I think he has stated privately his preference. Didn't Hubbs or someone at VQ report that he wanted to flip at OCD, but needed to talk things over with his mom?

i thought it was just decommit and open things up?

Can't remember exactly. Babyavi backed it up a post or two earlier. Maybe he has the exact quote.

i could easily be wrong, and in this case I wouldn't mind it. i just took some slight umbrage with the phrasing. not that that means anything. probably another case of me spending too much time in the PF and wanting to argue things that don't matter.

"Then there is Alabama defensive end commit Jordan Davis, who loved his first trip to Knoxville. He loved his trip so much that he almost flipped to UT last weekend. So why didn't it happen? His mom wants him to go to Alabama and after talking to her, Davis decided to stand pat for the moment. The Vols are going to have to get the 4-star defensive end back to campus and get his mom on board if they stand any chance of landing the freakishly talented defensive end."

Here's the quote.

Hey, it happens to the best of us.

You guys sound like middle school whiners complaining that Bama wins b/c they cheat. I'm in that age of folks that believe Bama is still our biggest rival and I hate'em more than any other team, but to discount their success as due to their ability to cheat and get away with it is just silly. "The only reason Bama has perfected their bagman process is due to the NCAA president being bffs with Nick Saban" is just crazy talk. Saban, hate him as I do, is the best coach out there and he has things rolling in Tuscaloosa. You have the best coach in an environment where the only thing that matters is football and it's been quite successful--but to attribute it to cheating because Saban is best friends with someone is ridiculous. They have been treated differently than others sometimes but that's not why they have been successful.

Has nothing to do with your perceived middle school bantering(kinda odd that you are in tune with what middle schoolers discuss)The problem is that you are just ignorant to the situation and choose to ignore their 11 years of irrelevance before Saban arrived, or that Mark Emmert was Saban's AD at LSU, or that LSU had grade scandals under Saban and Emmer's watch. Instead you just look at Saban as some Lombardiesque figure and ignore all of the components that has led to Bama being where they are. That's fine if you want to live in an ignorant bubble created by the media. But that doesn't mean the rest of us have to be suckered into your false reality.

She never told him any of this so you're speculating. Furthermore you don't know her finances or if she even has the ability to line up the logistics to get o Knoxville. She told him to wait until the visit wore off and then make a rational decision. After all that he decided that the opportunity at Bama was better right now which is why Jesse, Brent, and ither said slim to none on the %. Everyone doesn't allow their kid t mk an impulse decision they could regret.

I think this would be a difficult flip.

Finances and logistics of getting to Knoxville and Tuscaloosa aren't going to be vastly different enough to be a deal breaker, so that's just BS reasoning, IMO.

I can buy the idea that she didn't want him making an "impulse decision", but it still doesn't explain her resistance to even visiting Knoxville. Unless, of course, you're suggesting that she isn't opposed to it, and instead, Davis himself is the one that is no longer interested.

The only reason Bama has perfected their bagman process is due to the NCAA president being bffs with Nick Saban. Bama's resurgence was a perfect storm of sever pieces falling into place, not some brilliant plan hatched on their part.

We had an O-lineman during Phil's days that was getting credits for made up classes and we didn't get in trouble. Not defending Saban because I know what they do but it happens when you're on top.

Or he's doing what momma wants him to do. The truth is, only he knows for certain. I don't care what "insider" status you have with a recruit, there are always things they keep to themselves. If he goes to Bama, I hope it's because HE wants to go to Bama, not because of his mom. If he ends up at UT, I hope it's because HE wants to be here. It's his life, he needs to make the decisions.

mama has a lot of pull. and she won't be easily swayed once sold. (and that's mama's in general, not speculation on this particular mama...lol)

we'll know how serious this all is if she ever makes a trip to Knoxville. past that, kid is going to Bama.
