Let me put this in terms that you can understand...

Butch has completely changed the environment and talent level in a Tennessee team that was completely destroyed by a coach who didn't give a flip about recruiting he made us competitive almost immediately now some think we should be national champions every year no matter the talent level but it just doesn't happen that way see you have to build from the ground up Butch has built up the lines first and you are seeing the fruits of his labor our offensive line should be one of the best in the nation I don't care who is under center we are going to be really good offensively thanks to that foundation has Butch made mistakes yes has he been accused of playing scared a few times yes that's all part of the learning curve that he is going through granted he missed some great opportunities to advance this program unlike some coaches in our past Butch made some difficult decisions with his staff that shows me Butch isn't satisfied with 9 wins either so I think we should allow this to play out he has HIS players he has made the staff adjustments now if he fails we can't say he didn't go all in Butch is the damn man

I do agree with you, but....he cannot lose to teams less talented than his own or he will continue to be criticized.

He can lose to Bama, Georgia, or Florida and usually get a pass, but cannot lose to a weak Vandy or USCe
But eventually he will have to be able to beat the big 3 as well. Or at least 2 out of 3 every year.

No doubt. I would have been on a different level pissed had he not made staff changes though. I believe he went all in.

This is the opposite way we as UT fans are accustomed to.

Are we talking orange dog accustomed to....or the vfl program (which while he sucked at his own program), accustomed to?

I can honestly say...the VFL Program...was a Dooley hit. Just not under Dooley.

Once again (read it slowly...pronounce the syllables and put in the punctuation), this is not a personal attack, but, too many people are wanting an instant fix to something that started being broken back in 20...06-07-08. This is year 5...to fix something that was horribly broken. If you want a quick fix that may not last....that's one thing. If you take your time and fix it right...maybe it will stick for a long time.

Personally...I'm not looking for a NC and then years of oblivion. I'm looking for longevity at the top.

Bump, in case anyone missed this post. Spot on, BB. I want longevity at the top as well. I feel Butch is doing that and is adjusting along the way. Hope he's the answer for a very long time, as I really like his style and how he does things on Rocky Top.

Thank you. You and I don't always agree on things on here, but like Breakerboy, I respect your opinion. We don't have to see eye to eye to want....and understand...the long term outcome we need to see. How we get there is usually the difference in our opinions. But I can honestly say....most of us that have been on here for a while....want the same thing...and it's not instant....one time gratification. We want long term. Even if it means waiting a little longer.


Oh.....and I know who the original babyavi is.
