Josh Dobbs (merged)

There is a difference between between thinking he won't make it, and hoping he doesn't and gloating when it looks like he may be in trouble.

Too many in here doing the latter.

The handwriting was on the wall when they drafted Rudolph. This is not necessarily the end of Dobbs NFL career, hell Matt Simms hung around for 5 years for chrisakes. Nobody is cheering for him to wash out, he's just not an NFL QB.

neither is Rudolph

In fairness I always thought Dobbs had accuracy issues. But I would never not cheer for him. I would always wish him the best.

Then again my opinion doesn't matter and he is making millions while I am not. So obviously he did something right.

So yup.... I'll just go sit back in my corner.

Actually not millions but your point is well taken and you don't need to go back to your corner.

I accidentally liked your post.
That’s not what I meant or point of what I said. I agree with not liking D4H responses. I will not root against Dobbs because of some guy online though. That’s petty and silly. Fade is just saying something to stir the pot anyway.

He's never rooted against Dobbs, he got the response he was hoping for.

Being a Steelers fan and taking my Vols bias out of it I think it is a bad decision to get rid of Dobbs instead of Landry Jones. Steelers are in a salary cap crunch and they need to work out a deal to get Bell locked up long term. Jones is making 1.9 million this season compared to Dobbs 555,000. Jones is by no means ever going to be the solution long term in Pittsburgh. Dump the more expensive contract now, keep Ben healthy if possible and worse case scenario if you have to use Dobbs or Rudolph you can win a few or you end up getting a higher draft pick than you have had in the past decade or longer.

I hope Dobbs gets his chance but honestly him being in the NFL is a waste of his true potential as a person and that potential is greater than him getting beat up on a football field every Sunday.

How’s he getting “beat up” on the bench?

Don't count Dobbs out. He has learned a lot about the Steelers system since last Spring. Also don't be surprised if he gets a look at Slot Receiver. Everyone knows that kid can run and is uber dangerous in the open field.

That's probably a good choice for Dobbs. I never saw him as an NFL QB prospect because of his lack of a passing game beyond 20 yards. He is elusive but the NFL defenders are much faster than college and can he take the punishment that a receiver is going to get? I wish the best for him but not surprised that he's probably not going to have a career as a NFL QB.

As conservative of a franchise as the Steelers are, they would never drop a veteran back up QB to Ben in favor of a rookie and 2nd year player.

It’s been pretty much the talk by the Pittsburgh sports media for over a month.

Reading the comments below 3 articles concerning this matter leads me to believe a lot of fans in pittsburg like JD. Many are aware that he had no position coach while at UT and he has raw athletic ability. The steelers would be doing JD a favor by cutting him loose early if that is indeed their intent but IMO the steelers really haven't made any decision at all and are going to evaluate the matter after the preseason.
JD played a pretty solid game against the panthers in the last preseason game in his 1st year so I wouldn't count him out of the steelers roster and I don't think he'll go without a team very long if he is cut.
