Jones better than Pruitt From Athlon ask the coaches

I'm the least likely guy on this board to give a "Mulligan" to a coach. But I am not sure how much we can conclude about Pruitt minus those 3 sure (well almost) wins. I don't think I would have been happy with another 8 win season if UT had played the original schedule. I don't think that would have indicated the kind of progress we should be looking for. However, I am not sure there's enough depth on this roster to drop an FCS team and two mid-majors then replace them with TAM and Auburn.

OTOH, most SEC teams are in the same boat. Their depth is going to be challenged. Injury management will be critical. Even a Covid quarantine could turn a game or the season. Statistically, only about 20% of a population even under constant close contact will catch Covid. We have isolated ship outbreaks that prove that pretty conclusively. So across the league... about 20% of the players could catch it. You can probably say at least 5%.

The season could hinge on who has more in those likely to catch it percentages.

There is also evidence that a previous Coronavirus Cold left many people with significantly higher resistance to Covid. The number of games lost by critical players could come down to whether a school caught that Coronavirus last fall... or didn't.
Bama having a lot of positive tests made me feel as though Saban wanted his players to get exposed and get it over with before the season begins. I felt same way about Clemson too. Pretty dang sneaky if true because covid could derail a team's chances.

Butch Jones benched Alvin Kamara...over Jalen "OUCH THAT HURTS/I QUIT!" Hurd...

/thread
He didn't bench Kamara. Good God! Hurd was the starting RB when Kamara got here

Your characterization of Hurd is pathetic. On his worst day, he's tougher than you on your best day

Yep. At least Tennessee has had 23 positive cases. Hopefully they were our 23 best players.

Someone is unhappy about UT potentially not being such an easy out any more. Wouldn't be surprising if it were Muschamp... since Jones was easy for him even with inferior talent.

IMO, that would be a VERY odd thing if said by Saban. He seems to have a lot of respect for Pruitt.
I'm going to put at least a Benjamin on that first game of the season. Muschamp is on the hot seat and on his way out of the conference

I was literally about to post the same conclusion!
This is coming from a coach who knows Pruitt is gaining traction with the type of players they, themselves are recruiting and is hoping to downplay any momentum Pruitts program is gaining. The fact that “anonymous” called him Jeremy, stinks of Curley Smart down in jawga.
GBO!!
Oh the same guy that negatively recruits against us? Yeah. that'd be him.

I don't remember if TAF was one of them... but a lot of people here took Jones side in the Hurd thing without even thinking.

Hurd didn't do everything right but the only reason that situation developed was Jones' complete failure as a leader and manager of player relationships.

I have very little doubt that Jones promised Hurd more power running after the Iowa game. Hurd may have been ready to leave even then. It was likely a death by 1000 cuts for Hurd... but I would say Jones' failure to follow through on a lot of promises was the thread that ties them all together.

Didn’t have time to read all of the posts and someone may have already said this. Pretty simple really. If Botch was a better coach than Pruitt, he wouldn’t still be fetching coffee for Saban. Whichever coach said that is a moron who knows nothing about football. Botch is a used car salesman with a coaches whistle.

I think it's nonsense... However JP is staring down a schedule that could easily end up 5-5 if we have the same poor QB play we've seen. Hopefully that doesn't happen but that would be a tough pill to swallow in year 3

I bet .500 gets us ranked if we lose to the top 5 teams in the country (because it seems like thats who we play lol)
If I'm being honest, Bama, UGA, and UF are the real uphill climbs. A&M will be next toughest and then I'd bet on CJP against Auburn any Saturday. So maybe 5-5 wouldn't be great, but not regretable.
