Jimmy Hyams debunking Grumors

I tell you what being a realist is on this subject... he wants to coach, not about what is easy anymore. At least that's my opinion since he stated at beginning of year he wanted to coach again.

If that is so then he probably means in the NFL. He does not want to come chase high school kids around. Yes his name alone will attract some attention but he would still have put in the work of stroking teenage egos and their mommas.

Look... I will be pleasantly surprised if he comes but the reality is he is an NFL guy. That is where his heart is and that is where he will go IF he returns to coaching.

The fact that Norvell doesn't deserve 6, 8, 10 million a year....but Mullen, Patterson and possibly Gruden do...

UT has the resources to hire a coach and should NEVER have to settle for a coach making less than 2 million a year.

They shouldn't have to, but probably will.

Take out our 2 program "lifers" and our last hires have been Butch, Dooley, Kiffin, Bill Battle

I get your point, but how has Currie done this? He has said anything about Gruden, so how has he set that as the standard? You can’t tie rumors by random posters to that’s what Currie is doing. It’s like people saying “If gruden is playing us like this”. He hasn’t said anything, we’ll except yesterday when he said he’s happy with his job. Don’t get me wrong, I like all the hype and rumors, but they are in fact just that, rumors. Currie, nor Gruden have either said anything to lead us on.

Agree, whatever disappointment comes off this it was created because of fans' setting their own expectations and timelines.

Fans haven't realized that all the misinformation and double reports and internet chatter are a result of the "market", if you will, that we created for it.

If there is blame to be handed out, I'd say we need to look in the mirror first. The rumors and reports have been lapped up like a thirsty dog....

I agree. I don't think we end up with anyone in the top 5, and maybe not top 10 on the wish list.

The kind of coach we can get depends on how much $$$ and what kind of contract Currie and the money boys are willing to offer each candidate based on his particular experience and other qualifications. Butch Jones was making $4.1 million annually. Saban makes $7 million with nice bonuses thrown in each year (this year's bonus was $4 million). I'd say that if Currie and Company offered a great coach between $6 - 8 million with substantial bonuses like BAMA does Saban, along with a really decent contract, he could sign a top five coach fairly quickly. Money talks... poof floats (Moderators, please take note that I stated that very nicely).

Jimmy is completely debunking what was reported widely earlier today about all the travel and meetings. See his latest tweet less than an hour ago

Jimmy Hyams (@JimmyHyams) on Twitter

There is a ton of irresponsibility going on one way or another

If he ever leaves Knoxville, he would do well at CNN, he takes whatever talking points are sent to him and repeats it like it was gospel.

If money is the only factor then we need to offer Saban or Meyer $15M per year.

Don’t misunderstand me I’d love to have Gruden, but just think he may want to coach in the NFL.

I could understand this, but there's also the sense that Gruden feels like the NFL players are more prima donna than they ever have been and are trying to make the NFL a "social justice" platform and he doesn't want to be involved in all of that. He just wants to coach ball. In college, he can do that. And if goes to college, he goes to Tennessee.

Patterson feels "gettable" this time. Oh, he's going to make Tenne$$ee pay up for the disrespect/perceived slight he got last time, but I think he would come.

Exactly how I feel about it.

Curious that his story about 2008 came out just as this was all heating up.

I, for one, would prefer Patterson over Gruden.

That's a strange request. But the fact that they have all come out stating their disinterest in the past and we had to hire Butch and Dooley should be proof enough at this point. This isn't the first go at this and the situation hasn't improved this go around.

You have offered zero proof. Just opinion. Gotcha.

Wait, what?

Gruden, Patterson, and Mullen have all stated their disinterest. Fact.

We had to hire Dooley and Butch because of this fact.Fact.

A winless season in the SEC is worse than when Butch was hired and has done nothing to improve the perception of the job. Fact.

Do you know the difference between fact and opinion or are you just a delusional slow person?
