JG is not the problem

JG is most definitely the problem and I'm quite sick of people defending him after all this time.

He still:

Stares down receivers
Can't feel pressure
Hesitates too much when deciding to throw or scramble
Is a terribly slow runner but he is labled as a dual threat QB
Doesn't know what a pump fake is
Can never decide how much touch to put on the ball. Usually throws it too hard when he doesn't need to. Doesn't throw it hard enough at times thus underthrowing receivers.
Also overthrows receivers by a mile
Never sees defenders when throwing in coverage (see the interception in the end zone vs Georgia State)

This kid has access to resources any QB could possibly dream of! Peyton Manning ring a bell?

There's no more excuses for this kid to be the starter anymore.

If Pruitt was a real coach he'd bench his spoiled little ass and make a change at QB and then go from there.

He's not THE problem. He is absolutely without doubt A problem.

At this point there is no evidence to show he deserves to continue being handed the ball as starting QB. He should absolutely have to fight for the job this week in practice. No starter named till Friday.

Make him earn it for once.

We needed to recognize early in this game that we weren’t going to get a lot of stops and we needed to try to score a bunch of points. Instead choose to punt on every 4th and short and not take hardly any shots down the field. We’ve ran the ball a ton and tried to play a game of field position. That’s all on Pruitt. It reminds me of wv last season. Early in the game it became apparent that they were going to score. But it was also obvious that we’d be able to score. But same thing...we tried to slow the game down and be conservative with the play calling.

Its not pruitt’s fault that jg isn’t a good qb (after being such a highly ranked recruit) but it’s his fault that jg is still out there for his third year. And it’s his fault that we continue to try to play the field position game as if we ha e a dominant defense. When we absolutely don’t

This by chattavol420 yesterday describes bad Coaching by Pruitt.

I almost forgot.

JG for Heisman!

We need to talk this guy up and give him some confidence!

Afterall, wasn't he the make a wish kid whose wish we granted a few years ago? To start a few seasons as Vols QB? That's the only reason I can honestly conclude as to why he's been the starter all of this time.

Ryan Leaf just said what I was thinking. Why does every JG pass make our WR's go to the ground? Very few times do his passes put our WR's in a position to make plays after the catch.

Brave Volunteer said yesterday.

So many aspects to bad QB play by JG.

Some of it is by design and some is poor passes, but rarely do our WRs catch a pass in stride running toward the goal line.

This is exactly how I see it. I think JG is a huge problem. If he was doing his part that game is over quickly. Get the ball in the playmakers hands and the run game would open up, but he couldn't do this unless the guy was wide open.

Watching Trevor Lawrence you can see the difference. He throws a ball that arrives in a position to catch and make a play. JG throws a ball that may get there, but many times it is all the receiver can do is catch the ball and they are off balance to advance the ball. That is completely on JG.

^^^THIS TIMES A MILLION! It is amazing all these JG fanatics don't see how important it is 'JUST FOR THE QB to get the ball IN PLAYMAKERS HANDS'. Because JG isn't a playmaker. I am not here to bash the buy. I admire him for giving all he has for my Alma Mater. But, I really can't see how in the world he was a top 5 DUAL THREAT QB. Hell, he hasn't shown one threat!!! =(

one other thing that I have been thinking about. I think JG is part of the reason the offensive line is not progressing as quickly as we hoped it would. When your QB can't make a decision in a reasonable amount of time, it looks like an o-line problem, when a QB could help them out by making a quick decision so that the o-line can build confidence.

I think a good QB would have helped the o-line and instead he makes them look worse than they are by not making decisions.

Sliding 2 yards before he has to, when we have to have a first down says a lot more about his toughness than him eating countless sacks, that are usually his fault. If Pruitt doesn’t open up the position for Shrout and Maurer, he is going to ride JG’s coattails straight to his next assistant coaching gig.
