These were the former vol qb's comments on the Basilio website:

http://tonybasilio.com/index.php?page=tony

"Justin Worley – I feel bad for this kid. Why? Because he like many others are victims of those who coach them or recruit them. Its stories like these that don’t get enough attention in my opinion. Unfortunately, he will be unfairly blamed for losing Saturday, which looks inevitable. What will he think of the truth of his coach’s words (Derek Dooley) that he promised he’d look after him like a son when he recruited him? An action like this is why nothing and I mean nothing shocks me about coaches in college. How can you stick him in the game for mop up duty backed up against Alabama in a beat down if he has a bright future? Coach Dooley are you going to get that year back? Are you going to play Worley in significant parts of games in 2012 when the opportunities arise like Coach Spurrier played Doug Johnson sporadically with Danny Wuerrfel? If Worley CAN play, you better because what happened to him Saturday is just bad and purely knee jerk reacting. Welcome to college football my fellow Vol! Whatever the outcome, Mr. Worley, I will always side with you, Simms and Bray and the guys in uniform when a coach uses players as scapegoats for lack of preparation, in-game adjustments and lack of foresight as reason to deny you the opportunity to have two years to start for this university. " goes on to say:

"Da’Rick said on twitter Justin Worley looked better in practice than he anticipated he would, sounds bad but can you expound? Do you have something personal against Mr. Worley that would make you actually start him against this front four? "

 It's one thing to be critical but this sounds like some personal beef Colquitt has w/ CDD... I always felt sympathy for Colquitt after his injury in '94 but now he's showing a real lack of class!

I guess Jerry wanted to see more of the disaster that is Matt Simms under center. He's overlooking the fact this team was going to quit on Simms. No one would say that, but play like he has been playing and you would witness it. The change had to be made, there wasn't a choice.

Or maybe he is showing a former player of the games inside knowledge

That is pathetic. It's always important when reading people opinion to disregard agenda driven opinions. That was obviously heavily agenda driven. Its ridiculous. Especially considering Worley is starting, which should have been obvious to Mr. Colquitt as soon as they put him in the Alabama game.

Well.

I guess we won't have any more Colquitt's kicking for us while CDD is coaching.

Seems pretty negative for an old kicker.

Perhaps JC is sampling the pharmaceuticals he is handing out to the doctors he is selling to. Last I heard JC was wanting to move back to Seattle and get back to player personel development in the NFL

Not the kicker. This is Jerry Colquitt. He was going to be the starter for the 1994 season. Got hurt on the first play from scrimmage against UCLA.

So it's not right to put a kid in and try something to give the team a spark? It's not right to bench the worst QB in the conference in order to try and get to 6 wins and get us another month of practices for a bowl game? If Colquitt and former players feel like this then maybe, just maybe Fulmer was a far worse coach than I thought he was. This type of thinking is just foolish. Notice he just criticizes and doesn't offer an alternative.

What will he say if Worley comes out and has a breakout performance and gets SEC Freshman of the Week?

Wonder why Jerry is not in favor of starting the player who gives us the best chance to win. I can't see why that's a bad thing

So he is saying that there is no way UT will win and that Dooley is only playing Worley so he can use him as a scapegoat?

That is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The biggest scapegoat he could use would be Simms and then say he only stuck with him because he didn't want to ruin Worley's redshirt.

Hey, don't throw logic in here. C'mon, man.

It's easy to sit there and talk about someone. But when your the head coach of the Tennessee Vols and trying to play freshmen and sophmores to win games. I guess it is different. If Colquitt was coach what would he do. You have to play the best players. And Simms (i knowhe went up against LSU and Alabama) but he didn't do anything. He was missing the short passes.

I was hoping that was a joke. Considering some on this board are not old enough to remember 1994 ........

He would go the O'l Fulmer route.

Simms would be the starter, Zach Rogers would be the #1 WR, Schofield, Gooch, and any other upperclassman would be starting on OL, Maggitt and Johnson would be behind Vereen, and Rod Wilks would be starting over Brian Randolph. Also, Devrin Young wouldn't return kicks until he was a junior.

I've never seen more people willing to throw a season away to keep a redshirt on a kid. He may not be ready , but yeah he gives Tennessee their best chance to win. I don't get all the harping over it. Get over it. Worley will be much more prepared next year. Bray will be better because of it. I only see good things out of all this. Maybe not for this week, they may very well lose, but the positives for the future outweigh the negative, IMO.

Yeah, it is disgusting to even suggest that Dooley would do such a thing only to save face

I wish Mr. Colquitt would talk to Worley and ask him if he'd rather sit on the bench or come in and play a top 15 team that passed on him.
