Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

LOL
Kid should have been kicked off, but he won’t because Pruitt is from the Saban plantation. He won’t grow. He’ll learn, like we all know, that there is a different set of rules if you can’t tote the rock.
In most industries, the higher producers are given more leeway than lower producers.
That’s just life.

Never Mind Your Pastor; He can't save you. And to the point, in my day, if you cursed the Police, you got a night stick. AND, guess what? That was the correct response. AUTHORITY means just that. Did you realize Interfering with an officer can be deemed a FELONY? People need to respect Law enforcement and YES; Fear them if you go against them.
In the words of Chevy Chase in the movie Fletch..."God, I admire you!"

Perhaps you missed the part in my post about Banks already being handcuffed and in the back of a cruiser when he popped off. I.E., not a threat to any officer. Henceforth, tough talk is pretty meaningless at that point. Also, for factual clarification; never said anything about my pastor saving me.

Until we meet again Keyboard Warrior.......opps, I mean JohnWardForever.

Idk. I get tired of hearing excuses and fake, scripted apologies over idiotic behavior. I get being young and doing stupid things, but this whole culture where it’s cool to sh## all over law enforcement is ridiculous. In banks case, he is getting handed an opportunity that few get. He could set himself up with a great future by just being a decent human, but he wants to pretend to be all hard and gangster and talk a big game about shooting police. What a low class idiot. We now have him and whichever one punched an officer. Kind of disgusting honestly.

I saw the videos read the articles and don't get what the problem is. A dumb entitled kid got arrested for something trivial. He didn't even know how bonds work. Move on nothing to see here. The kid wasn't drunk or high and didn't have anything on him. He made an illegal u-turn and was driving on a suspended license because he forgot to pay a ticket. move on.. The question we should be asking is why is this even a story?

I feel the same way about the Bryce Thompson thing it was silly young kids doing silly young kids stuff no one got hurt slap the wrist and move on.

While I don't think Banks deserves to be kicked out or anything like that, I do think this would have been a perfect time to send a message to the entire program and suspend him for a game. Let's be honest, we aren't beating UGA with or without him anyway. So why not suspend him and let everyone know your words can get you into trouble just like your actions. Seems pretty simple to me.

As for your Bryce Thompson point, his situation is far beyond "silly young kids doing silly young kids stuff". That "silly young kid" has a history of domestic issues dating back to his high school days. In fact, his temper cost him multiple scholarship offers as teams completely took him off their board due to that. That kid needs some professional help for his temper before he ends up seriously hurting someone.

You my friend are a very low IQ individual. Looking at the spacing between Mr. Bank's eyes and his gold grill, I think he may be a little more high IQ than you. With that being said, the disrespectful criminal has no place near any higher learning facility. Unless he's the janitor.
Then fire the UT cops and ban the Knoxville police from campus. This video release is purely a slander job by the police because they’re mad he rightfully got out of it.

A bunch of modern day redcoats. Bend down and lick the boot that is placed firmly on your head lol. The founding fathers would look at you in shame and disgust.

The internal punishment that he has already received I’m sure was more than sufficient and Pruitt just said he will play Saturday (and rightfully so imo) but in light of the video, I do wish that Banks would do a ride along with a cop to help him grow in wisdom. Pruitt had no way of knowing what Banks had said in the video, but in hindsight, I hope the judge does suggest a ride along, not as punishment, but as a learning experience for Banks and to give him a better view from 10,000 feet perspective, to help him grow.

I believe his mind/beliefs might change, might not but don’t agree that some want him dismissed, he needs to grow in perspective.
The ride alongs would be great, riding a whole shift once a week to see what it's like. Some teams do work out sesssions with some cops and thats pretty cool.
When an officer is shot in the line of duty, id recommend CJP take Banks to attend the funeral. Isaiah Crowell made some bad remarks about cops being killed and the police chief invited him to attend the funeral, I think it worked out pretty well there.

There is no way that any athlete or student at the University of Tennessee should be allowed to be enrolled in the school after making a comment about shooting the police.

Absolutely not. Knoxville and UT cops are trash and have been for many years. This was settled I court and the judge agreed that the whole situation was a waste of time on everyone’s behalf. And he wasn’t lying that where he is from they shoot at cops, just a fact.

Doesn't mean you have to be crazy enough to say it out loud on camera in a cop car

This wouldn’t be an issue in any other SEC town...

He is young and was angry. No way he should have been arrested and cuffed...totally stupid.

I think when I was 19 I was pretty stupid as well at times and said things I wish I didn’t say.

We really need to educate people instead of kicking them to the curb. I dare say that any one of you have not made a mistake in the past, the only difference is that there wasn't a social outlet that you could get crucified in.
Funny, banks was arrested on a FTA he recieved for driving while suspended.

All I can say about this story is that I am saddened by the differences we still have as people.

Had this been me, the least of my problems would have been Coach Pruitt or law enforcement. That would have been mere child's play.

My father, on the other hand.....

Every time I see a story about a "mistake" (whoever it may be and whatever walk of life it may be) all I can think about was how many of those things are unthinkable to me because of the shame I would have brought to my family.

This is ridiculous..so now everyone thats ever said something stupid to a cop should be kicked off their team? Fired from their job? Obviously the cop didn't take it that way or he would have been charged (you can be charged for saying something like that if the officer really wants to btw) but here is the thing 99% of police are normal decent people and they hear this all day long. they let it pass because they understood it was just a frustrated kid.

If the officers involved didn't have an issue then we have no right to have an issue. Its like some of the lighter complected friends sometimes get all bent if they feel like someone says something they consider racist around me. I didn't take it that way so what right do they have to feel insulted? How can you be angry for me when im not even angry?
No you cant be charged for saying something like that to a cop.

So a person with an arrest warrant shouldnt ve arrested and cuffed?

I'm not sure "a" ride along will do much good in Bank's case. Maybe a "month or two" of ride alongs so he sees a fuller spectrum of cop stops. I used to go on ride alongs courtesy of having a cop in one of my classes. And working with disabled kids, some who happened to be children of cops. I enjoyed two benefits as a result. One, I had a mono-optic view of cops in general. Not good ones at that. Especially after the Rodney King incident. My 'tude changed as I saw how some fit the mold of what I thought about them in the first place. And some I seriously thought were too soft with some of those lowlife punks. I saw one cop twice slam a guy's head onto the hood of the cruiser. Oh my! Bad, bad cop! NOPE, how many times do you tell a handcuffed guy to stay where he is and see him try to wander off? And repeatedly bulldozer a woman officer in the process? If you ask me he should have billy clubbed the guy. But I also saw badged bullies in action who shouldn't have a uniform, badge, and gun. So the first benefit was that there really are good and bad cops.

The second benefit I probably shouldn't mention but think it only fair I do so. I had about 3 speeding tickets mysteriously nullified. That includes two cases of my penalty payment being returned with a note that no record of the ticket was found. And one case of me being sent home from a mandated traffic class saying my name wasn't on the list. This just reinforced the impression is that some cops really do try to help, though I believe I didn't deserve that help because flatly speaking I was guilty of speeding.

Point is, while I hope I'm wrong, I'm not sure a ride along would adjust Jeremy's thinking about cops as it did mine. I wish I still went on those ride outs (it's what they called them in my area) but I moved to a different state and got lost in different occupancies.

Note on my ride alongs: Some stuff I saw was funny. My unit broke up a fight one night. They asked one guy why did he hit the other. He said, "I had to because he just up and hit me in my solar system." Cop says, "Really? Which planet?" Guy points to his solar plexus and says, "Right here. It hurt so I hit him back."

That's just one example of some of the funniest stuff I experienced on these ride alongs. Then there were some people who were so stupid it is an insult to the word stupid that describes their behavior. Like the guy running from cops. But his tennis shoes had these blinking lights built into the heels and soles of the shoes. Following him was so easy a cop yelled the suggestion he take his shoes off so they couldn't find him. Darn if he didn't stop, sit on the curb and proceed to take his shoes off. The cops stood by and waited until he was done and cuffed him. His howl was it wasn't fair because they told him to take his shoes off.

He shouldn’t have been arrested when he’s driving around knowingly on a suspended and has a warrant out for his arrest? Lol ok 👍

Boiling it down to basics, this kid was arrested after making a safe U-TURN because he had an unpaid ticket that he couldn’t pay (which was suspiciously intentionally distorted when he stated it in the video) because the NCAA won’t let him earn money for himself. The officers involved and their superiors should be fired for wasting tax payer money and for slander.
Maybe whoever is making the payments on his Mustang could throw in some more $$$ to cover the tickets.

Could you explain to me what a "thug" is?
It has become the new "n" word for the racists. If Banks was white, that word would never have been used. That's the honest truth.
This didn't need to become a national news story. The charges were dismissed and CJP had already handled it. This grew legs with this post yesterday and has grown way out of proportion. Things are happening and being said that are not helpful and are making us all less humane in a time where need more humanity and understanding, not less.

By law he had to be cuffed and arrested....there was a warrant sworn out for him from Crossville. State law requires he be detained for that warrant. His detention has zero to do with the traffic stop...that’s just where the officers found out about the warrant.

He had to be arrested that’s what happens when their is a warrant. That’s law. And most departments make it mandatory arrestees are handcuffed
