Cherry-picking on what to respond to in my post, ignoring all else, I see. Exactly what I expected. Man, I should have been a prophet. I've met your kind before. If someone says something that even remotely suggests a negative thought about cops, they're cop haters and worse. You ignore everything else said and laser focus on just one little thing and try to pull the original poster into a defensive verbal exchange that ranges farther and farther from what was actually said. So if you lack the brains to truly read my post for what it really said instead of your trying to make it into something else, there's not a darn thing I can do to change your refusal to separate your mythology from historic fact. Clearly, what I said about the celestial and holy thing refers not to cops but single-minded cop advocates. And yes, rogue cops do harass citizens and another thing is you don't have to be a person of color for them to do it. Now proceed to twist this post too, it's what copsuckers do.

It's not "ok" in a human decency sense, but it's hardly some action worthy of suspension or being kicked off the team entirely. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here.

I so can't wait for the story to come out that Pruitt and Banks have had a sitdown with the officer and intern to apologize for his "words" to them and then they get 4 free tickets to the football game as part of the apology.

I know you are good with that. In the first case below, the cop was let go. [And only went to the next county and got hired there.] But they do say things like this. In this case, I think he was just joking cause the nice White lady was shaking in her slippers so to speak. Trying to calm her down but it backfired. However, we had a cop in Knoxville who stopped a former Volunteer and threatened to shoot his face. So YES, there are rogue cops who do this and you're good with that as we well know from your posts.

As someone pointed out, all professions have some vile people. As I have said before, be careful. If you post anything that's not 10,000,000% pro-cop, we got people here who come after you with knives, pitchforks, and anti-aircraft guns. You must either be a full-blown copsucker or you're a cop hater the way they see things. They will twist and misrepresent what you post to verify their lies.

KB you know better than I likely Peyton was no saint high character classy guy on The Hill, he became one over time and grew out of his immaturity. He still has his one public incident brought up from time time in the media which I don't think was fair then or now. He was young and brash just as Banks is and will be if he's allowed to grow out of it rather than the constant beatdown over one incident is my opinion. It could be he's a total bad egg and has other incidents on down the way and if that's the case I have no problem tossing him out.

OP if Florida had those standards they would have to get rid of most of their team. A 19 year old that is mad and shooting his mouth off should not be a surprise. He is right on one thing they do shoot at cops where he is from. I don't think he was making a threat at the time. Just shooting his mouth off.

“Crime infested neighborhood”? Lol. Maybe you don’t know, but Cordova is a suburb just east of Memphis, considered one of the nicer areas of the Shelby county area, maybe a notch below Germantown. He ain’t from Orange Mound or from Brooks rd.

I get what you’re saying, and appreciate the out of the box thinking, but there may be problem with due process and excessive fines.

This is a police matter handled by the police. If they felt threatened or the comment to the intern merited punishment, it’s their responsibility to administer that, not the university’s. The comments were inappropriate, disrespectful and reflected poorly on Banks. He should be educated on how to handle the situation better if there is a next time, educated on how police do serve and protect his community, and he should run extra for waking up coach with a call in the middle of the night. He should also directly apologize to the intern. But, I don’t even think a one game suspension is necessary. I’m glad there wasn’t any drugs or alcohol involved.
