Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

If that merits a dismissal, we might as well close down our sports programs.
He was angry and said something very wrong. But, dismissal? Would our rivals?

Be also threatened a female intern. He just spoke his true colors. I’ll have a hard time cheering for him from here on. He apologized because he was told to apologize. He didn’t have the excuse that he was intoxicated when he said it, he was fully sober. In today’s time, when officers are getting gunned down left and right, for him to say that is truly pathetic.

What if the officer said, “where I come from we shoot at black people”? See the double standard??

This take is garbage. Pruitt tells the officer it’s the “silliest **** I’ve ever seen”, “this only happens here”, and “do your civic duty, man”. He was condescending and frankly embarrassing. “Why do you have to arrest him just because he has a warrant”?

Pruitt took another bad situation and made it worse with his own behavior. Try to have some intellectual honesty.
Pretty much acted like is stupid immature player, imagine that. Should be no surprise why they play so poorly

This guy never knows when to shut his mouth or stop disrespecting people. Apparently has never taken an English course. Boot his ass out, Saban can have him.

Its Pruitt's fault, Banks isn't responsible for this.

Banks is responsible for for whatever Banks does. He’s a big boy now and not a 16 year old with a brand new drivers license. Pruitt saying these kids don’t know how to handle things..?? If that kid can handle going to college, getting his text books, being able to find his classroom, knowing when he has to restock the toilet paper, then he knows when he needs to pay a speeding ticket.

Hateful Words are bad. Threats are worse.
But they don’t rise to the level of physical or sexual assault.
Therefore, their punishment should be commensurate with their violation.

Quick to pass one-sided judgment, I see. First and foremost, I consider Banks an ass for talking that way to cops. And I do so for two reasons.

1. Real cops (as opposed to biased and bigoted bullies with badges) should be respected. They have a hard job that in these days and times is, in fact, getting harder. The list is too long to indicate how the job is harder but here's just a tiny few.
a. More powerful illicit drug use resulting in greater savagely violent or reckless incidents.
b. Having to handle domestic and foreign terrorist events and face a variety of powerful weaponry.
c. People across the social spectrum increasingly distrustful and willing to target cops for an ambush.

2. Too many (no, it's not just a few) hate group members have infiltrated police departments and given cops, in general, a bad reputation. And cops getting demoted and fired when they report on colleagues who abuse their power and authority. This isn't how you weed out the bad ones. Consequently, Banks is literally inviting abuse once in custody and out of sight of cameras. These guys have done horrible things like subjecting a restrained suspect's genitals to taser shocks. Gang beatings, bone-breaking and more then lying about it.

Now, all that being said, those bad apples is why folks like Jeremy feel and say what they do. They face and witness the reality of bad cops so often, it will mark your attitude. You people who neither live in their skin, experience what they do for your just minding your own business. In this Banks video, far as I can see, they simply did their jobs though there might be pre-video issues. They don't act like the badged bullies I've seen in real life or on too many videos. So I'd be among the first to say Banks should have either been respectful or kept his mouth shut. I also know his reaction is not seated in just rudeness. Like me, he has seen thug cops which a lot of you want to believe don't exist, but some of us know from experience and observations they do. Prediction: It won't surprise me if he gets stopped as a favor to a thug cop, either around Knoxville or in Memphis and shot dead on some Trumped up excuse. Or via a cop-paid punk with a criminal background. This stuff happens. He really should have kept his mouth shut.

Let's hear it from those who insist all cops are celestial and holy never in the wrong advocates here.
So in this case, where the cop did nothing wrong, you still provoke the celestial and holy never in the wrong advocates and assume that cops will now harrass him until he is shot by a thug cop? briliiant

Wow!!! Woke up this morning to this. Banks did screw up by running that mouth which is typical of millennial young adults....just wont shut their pie hole. Kicking him off the team.......absolutely not.........running gassers or Neyland stairs would be good.

Now for CJP......in my opinion, nothing out of the ordinary of what any HC of a major program would attempt. If you think Saban, Meyer, Dabo, or even Fulmer never had those types of conversations with LE about one of their players, you are naïve. The difference is CJP's conversation was released to media and public.
The problem is he is dumb enough to get recorded saying this. He came from two programs that were out of control before this. This isn’t FL state where we hide all our crimes. He got caught trying to cover it up and now he looks a fool. Sure he apologized, but i don’t think he is going to change and I expect more chaos from his tenure

So what exactly should he punished for outside of the legal/warrant for his failure to appear?
Oh, I don’t know, maybe telling police where he comes from police get shot? Would that be a good start?

As another poster correctly said, what if that officer said “well, where I come from, we shoot black people”. The same people excusing Banks behavior - and Pruitts reaction to it - would be melting down this board. It’s the lack of intellectual honesty that astounds me around here.

Did he threaten to shoot the cops? Did he threaten violence on them?

No he did not. Did he call them names and borderline harass them with profanities? Sure. Same **** happens on the football field and everywhere else.

Y'all are acting like Banks threatened to shoot the cops the next time he sees them.

Once again, the words weren't great, but the actions are nowhere near worth the "reaction" people are having.

The fact you have a problem with Pruitt's reaction in the middle of the night is crazy. Pruitt wasn't getting a live stream of Banks' ride to the station. All he got was an update from the Cops when the stop was made. For Pruitt to see that squad car video, he would have had to FOIA it just like the Knox Media did.

As I said earlier, people seemingly hate Pruitt because he doesn't have a stellar W/L record on the field so now people will say anything he does is bad regardless if its on or off the field. Amazing how many people act like Tennessee Football is some impactful day to day life or death situation for them.

I like Pruitt even more after listening to the conversation between he and the officer. He's probably right, this never occurs in Athens, Tuscaloosa, or Tallahassee.

OP STFU. Teenager talk, probably a true statement being he's from Memphis.
Yeah, he only talked about shooting cops and threatened a female that he would “see her around campus”. How dare the OP start this thread, Jeremy’s just a good kid, didn’t mean anything by it. I mean, just cause he’s out at 4:00 in the morning, and has an outstanding warrant for not handling his business, that doesn’t mean he should’ve been arrested or even pulled over to begin with. I mean, what normal citizen DOESNT talk about shooting cops and make physical threats to a female “intern”/student while sitting in a police cruiser? We’ve surely all done that. The OP should definitely STFU.

So you just roast the kid because he doesn’t meet your standard of player but if he did then all the stuff you just blasted him on, including what you were implying in regards to the female officer, doesn’t matter? What’s wrong with you?
Lol. Tongue was firmly in cheek during my post.

Exactly, if CJP went 8-5 last year and was 4-0 with having crushed Fl and heading into the GA game this weekend. No one complaining about CJP would say a word!!!!!

And of course if the Pruitt was more eccentric towards the media, they don't pull a FOIA on this arrest for a traffic stop either.

The excuse making for this is kind of behavior is why it keeps happening. Patting people on the head and telling them it’s ok to threaten police, fight police, and threaten to shoot up the university isn’t teaching them another way. It’s looking the other way because you feel bad about their upbringing and environment.

Well maybe, just maybe, that environment is a byproduct of a culture that continues to excuse the violence and rhetoric, and not hold them accountable.
Talk about lack of intellectual honesty!!!!. Banks was punished and the matter is handled internally. Banks apologized for the incident. This issue as a whole goes back to the fabric of issues in America that most of us have no idea how to fix or care to fix. I never stated to “ pat him on the head “ and don’t recall Pruitt did either. Being butthurt that Tennessee football is in the dumpster doesn’t make it right to bash the coach or players for everything you perceive they do wrong. I will be the first to admit I have been hyper critical at times but like I said in my first post what would you have rather Pruitt done in that situation? I guarantee if Pruitt had said oh well he broke the law take him to jail there would of been a bunch of guys yelling “ Fire Pruitt he’s lost the team he doesn’t have their backs”

If you don’t see that as a threat, I don’t know what to tell you. But since you are not alone, it is easy to see why we have a culture of violence and a generation of adults who we have so low expectations for that this is viewed as no big deal.

no, I have to believe that at some schools the police may have talked to him and just let him go with a warning but no arrest...

GO BIG ORANGE!

And people like you who think its their right to know all the info of an individual who you have no relationship with are also a big issue with today's society.

The only people that matter here are Banks, Pruitt (because he's the players' dad while away from their actual parents), and the cops.

Yet for a lot of people, including you, on here, yall are acting like Banks threatened you too.

Yall are so soft.

Once again, if it is so cut and dry, please tell me where he threatened the two folks in the front seat with direct harm..... Can you?

Some of ya'll seem to forget that the last time we were winning football games on the regular we always had players getting arrested. You aren't winning in the SEC with a bunch of goodie two shoes.
