I'm sorry but that news is incorrect. I hope Jennings gets a new contract like every other Vol fan does; however, right now he is still an ERFA. Those contracts usually get done after free agency is finished, because the team still holds the cards. The 2022 NFL CBA put a year 2 player minimum salary at $895k. San Fran may well want to extend him further at a reduced rate as he is a ERFA productive starter. Here you can find his current contractual status.

JJ is the kind of guy that will do well in any offense with any QB. He is like a cross of Hines Ward and Anquan Bolden. He probably won't put up insane numbers like 1200 yards and 100 catches but he will put up good advanced metrics and have a positive effect on the running game.

EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FREE AGENT (ERFA)
  • An exclusive rights free agent (ERFA) is any NFL veteran [who reaches the end of his contract] with less than three accrued seasons. A rookie (first year player), second, and third year player each fall into this category.
  • A player with exclusive rights status may only sign a contract with their original team, if the original team placed the minimum salary tender, typically during the first days following the completion of the Super Bowl through the start of the new league year (mid-March).
  • Any player who receives a team’s exclusive rights minimum salary tender will not be able to negotiate with another team, and the player must only re-sign with his original team.
  • If the minimum salary tender is not given or the tender has been withdrawn by the original team to a player with less than three accrued seasons, that player will then be completely free to sign with any team without any penalty or any restrictions.

March 16 the 2022 League Year and Free Agency period begin at 4:00 p.m., New York time.

So 5 days to lock him up with the $895k (which is the 2022 2nd year player minimum salary) tender or it's Free Agency for Jennings.

Jennings is the dude that will always bring 100% in and off the field.Ppl gravitate towards guys like him.When your feeling down or game aint going the way u hoped,hes that guy that keeps ppl motivated and going.Will he ever be a legit#1 Wr I highly doubt it but anything is possible.He doesnt need to be he's good at his role,he may even be a decent #2 but all that is really moot.Dudes a baller and I'm glad he represents my Vols,kids got a hell of a story!

Just the same for your awareness:

Indentured servitude is a form of labor in which a person is contracted to work without salary for a specific number of years. The contract, called an "indenture", may be entered voluntarily for eventual compensation or debt repayment, or it may be imposed as a judicial punishment. Historically, it has been used to pay for apprenticeships, typically when an apprentice agreed to work for free for a master tradesman to learn a trade (similar to a modern internship but for a fixed length of time, usually seven years or less). Later it was also used as a way for a person to pay the cost of transportation to colonies in the Americas.

Like any loan, an indenture could be sold; most employers had to depend on middlemen to recruit and transport the workers, so indentures (indentured workers) were commonly bought and sold when they arrived at their destinations. Like prices of slaves, their price went up or down depending on supply and demand. When the indenture (loan) was paid off, the worker was free. Sometimes they might be given a plot of land.
