yeah, I read that. He has also started talking to Ole miss since that was published and also said that if Drayton stayed, he would stay. I would rather seem him a cock than at BC.

It was a post that someone else made this morning, and they heard it from John Brice on the Sports Monster. He says he expects all of the defensive coaches to be replaced, but that Scott and Drayton would stay. How he knows, I don't know, but I do hope he's right. His main reason was because of them being such great recruiters, and that a new staff would need to keep at least a couple of the former coaches who know the players, etc.

drayton and scott need to stay, ofcourse i really liked trooper taylor myself.


we need a small back like this guy, and hopefully he has or can develope good hands and maybe beceome kinda like a percy harvin type.

This is a recrent quote from Giles on ESPN. He and alot of others think that Drayton and Scott will be retained like that dude at UCLA last year was to keep the recruiting class in tact.

"[Drayton] told me just to call him and he would keep me updated. He thinks that whoever the new coach is, he will keep him and coach [Latrell Scott] because they are recruiters and all that," Giles said.

I don't know how anyone could read him any other way. I just sent Giles a message telling him that we understood why he was having doubts right now but to give us a chance because he wouldn't regret it. I told him how excited Vol fans were at the possibility of having him as a Volunteer wearing the orange & white. I did go on to explain about Vol fans frustrations that led to boos this year and described what it felt like to be a Vol fan and the traditions of the school and football program. I told him too that no one coach was bigger that the Tennessee program and that we were striving to be the best by changing directions at the coaching position. I told him that we appreciate and thank Fulmer for his 30+ years of service to Tennessee. I basically told him that we had our fingers crossed that he, and the rest of the studs we have commited for next year, would become Volunteers. I thanked him for his intial commitment and told him he would not regret it when he ran through the "Power T" and felt 105,000+ fans yelling for he and his teammates. I think that if 1000 Vol fans would send him a letter telling him that we want him to be a Vol, it would help sway him.Everbody likes to be wanted and this would only strengthen the family atmosphere at UT.

It also says he noticed Tennessee lost to Wyoming and took it into account. When he talked about USC to Deuce Staley he "was smiling ear to ear". That's all thats really been said so far.

Frankly, there's no comparison between Tennessee and South Carolina when it comes to atmosphere, facilities, history, tradition, and exposure to the NFL.

Tennessee has a tremendous advantage in all of those categories. The only uncertain right now is the Tennessee coaching situation - if the Vols get a big name coach, and retain Stan Drayton, Jarvis Giles will be in Knoxville.

But right now Tennessee is going down while South Carolina is going up. Tennessee has had under 100,000 for how many straight games now? while USC continues to sell out. The atmosphere thing is really an opinionated question, but I promise you USC has had a better atmosphere in games this year than UT just because of the results each team has had. We've got a new weightroom and lockerroom on par with UT and Florida, etc.

And yes back when UT was good they put plenty of guys in the NFL but for the past 3 years or so USC has been just as good in this area if not better.

Giles probably cares more about all this than how good UT was in the 90's. There is a lot of optimism around the south carolina program and a lot of pessimism around the UT program. Recruits look at that.

You do realize we fired our coach right? And that now we're focusing on going back up. The downward trend stops this year.

South Carolina's "going up?" Could've fooled me...they look like the same 6-8 win program they've been for the past 7 years.

South Carolina's stadium is a dump, off campus...it doesn't come close to Neyland.

And, Tennessee may not be putting as many players in the league as Texas and LSU right now, but UT is still putting more in the league than South Carolina.

Real quick - give me a recent pro-bowler who played at South Carolina...

And neither will you all. We should win atleast 8 games next year assuming we get one of the main coaches being tossed around on this sight. It isn't as big of a rebuilding job as you think. The coaching was just that bad. We are still lacking some talent on the lines (mainly defensive line - I think the O-lines problem isn't talent) and QB. We have a great dual threat QB coming in that can make some plays.

We won't be in the SEC championship next year - but if we get one of the 4 or 5 coaches I think we're going after - I have no doubt we will be a head of South Carolina in the east.. possibly 2nd place.
