Hey JG, With or without Fulmer, UT still needs offense and needs you. These recruits don't need to hop off the bus too early. We made a change for a reason and to jump off now would be stupid.

If they don't hit a home run with the new coach... it won't just be "any particular recruit". As I've said many times, UT doesn't have the homegrown sure bet recruits to carry them through a mistake like Bama, LSU, UGA, UF, etc do. All they have to do is find the right coach... the players will be there.

If UT fails to find the right coach then there will be several down years of recruiting that will snowball.

I agreed that it was time for CPF to go but I'm more worried than optimistic about the future.

I second this thought. A bitter-sweet time for the program, and a fragile one too. To keep half of the core of this class would be ideal for the new HC, but he MUST have immediate recruiting success. Good luck to Phil in the future. He is a nice man but it just wasn't a good situation.

i had a chat with jarvis giles on facebook a while back. he said that even with the struggles this season, and the possibility of a new coach, he is a vol no matter what. Then i realized just a bit ago that he deleted me from his friends hahaha.

It didn’t take Jarvis Giles long to decide the University of Tennessee was the school for him. The Gaither senior tailback verbally committed to Tennessee back in June during a visit.

But does the news that Volunteers coach Phil Fulmer is out at the end of the regular season have Giles reconsidering his decision?

“This is affecting me big time,” Giles said. “I don’t really know what I’m going to do. Right now, I’m trying to line up an official visit to South Carolina.”

The Gamecocks were one of several Division I schools to offer Giles a scholarship. The others included Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

Fulmer’s leaving doesn’t just affect Giles. Tennessee heavily recruited in Hillsborough County this season and has made many offers including Armwood’s Angelo Hadley, Ryne Giddins and Petey Smith and Plant’s Orson Charles.

JG will regret decommitting before a new coach. I know he is enrolling early so he has alot more on the line. but wait and see, its going to be exciting

Giles should commit himself to the University, not Drayton. Sure, the coaches are important, but he admitted he loved the mountains and the atmosphere, so to solely commit himself to just one coach is kinda shallow.
I respect the young man and he sounds like a leader with a good head on his shoulders, so it surprises me he doesn't want to commit to the University of Tennessee, but instead only to Stan Drayton. By the way, Drayton might not be anywhere for more than 4 years anyways, no guarantee on where coaches will be, but the University is going nowhere!!!!

Well...Mr. Giles...#2 APB per Rivals...the #1 APB(Oku) is willing to give the new coach a chance before decomitting...so if you feel you can't play here without a certain coach on the sideline then don't let the door hitcha' where the good Lord splitcha'

Very true. I would love to have the tandem of Oku and Giles, but even getting just one of them would make me happy. Giles can enjoy Columbia, the armpit of SC.

I still think that whoever our new coach is will give us a shot at getting to the SEC Championship before South Carolina ever gets there.
