Jarrett Guarantano

Everybody on the side of the field he threw to appeared covered to me, except Wolfe (he wouldn't have scored hadhe been thrown to). Calloway, running the slant from the other side, was open.. It was a bad throw. He obviously didn't see MC so he should have just thrown it in the stands. That said, there's no way to tell if he was staring down his intended receiver..

Ok you saw what you saw and I saw what I saw, Go figure.
Um no. The video shows his head slightly turned toward the out by Wolf first. I'm not exactly sure how you are "seeing" anything different.

The position of the players and the routes is also something you can factually confirm by simply watching the replay.

My point has never been that it wasn't a bad play on his part. My point which I have pretty well proven was that it does not support the idea that he has a habit of staring receivers down.

I hope we can both atleast agree that Dormady needs to be better overall against SEC Defenses...That is the only point i was trying to make. I hope he improves and lights it up an dgets drafted in the first round next year. I want him to succeed, because if he does the Vols succeed! Go Vols!
They all do but his performance doesn't justify the depth and volume of criticism he's gotten.

He's made some fairly serious mistakes and gotten away with them... but not a ton of them.

Take away the early drops vs GT and he's completing around 70% on the year with 4 TD's and a pick. See post 942 in this thread. I found one more of his incompletions last night. He missed George on a fade vs ISU. George appeared to get his legs crossed or else QD misplaced the ball. Either way, only George had a play on the ball if anyone did.

Watch the RB underneath. That would have been his play after missing MC early.

He isn't getting criticism from me just that he needs to improve from his first 2 starts, that is a legit concern. I know all you want to do is agrue because you won't just let it rest.

If we had taken away all of the drop Dobbs had he would have had great Numbers too. Drops are apart of the game and they count against the completion percentage, it isn't fair but its life.

Dormady can be a good QB here, but he hasn't played perfect so there isn't any need in arguing that he has!

A simple... "OK, I was mistaken" would have ended the "argument" a while ago.

But really I thought we were discussing football? You can quit any time you like.

Not one person has argued that. I've probably been more critical than you have in really specific ways about that INT.

But you go from a handful (or less) of bad plays to a grand generalization that he has to improve dramatically to compete with good teams based on his performance so far. His performance so far has been very good. Minus the
inordinate number of drops in the first half of GT... he's produced very well. That may change as the competition increases but GT IS a "good" team. Dormady has made some good passes and has delivered the ball in places where the receiver could make a play pretty consistently. They've had to reach for some balls thrown downfield... but he's pretty much made the short throws like handoffs.

He's had a very good start. Every player on the team needs to improve and many... probably most... have further to go than Dormady.

The interesting thing is all this discussion about Dormady is that JG stared down his WR is the touchdown pass he threw. Go figure.

Could be a problem but if he read single coverage pre-snap it shouldn't be. He didn't really hold the ball that long.

One of the comparisons that can be made favorable to QD compared to Dobbs is that players running the swing or dump down routes to the flats... aren't having to stop, turn, or contort themselves to catch the ball. The throws have been made where the receiver can turn up field right away without losing momentum. I think JG threw a couple well also.

Dormady wont be a star here, he just doesnt have it. IMHO. Not impressed at all after Florida, i really dont think their defense is that good. Georgia will hammer us with Dormady at qb. wont even be close, i would love to have to eat my words on that, but i just dont see it happening. go vols 6-6 bound with Dormady as qb!

only issue with jg is why the staff didnt call more read options since it supposedly is his thing. Then call like 3-4 in the last few drives with qd who runs like a turtle stuck in peanut butter!
