What has changed so significantly about college football that makes the nfl a better alternative
Very curious about him as well. I think he can play anywhere in the secondary. The last two times we went to Atlanta, we gave true freshman serious run on the back end. Not saying that will happen this time but I am excited about these young kids getting some experience. Im also intrigued to see what Merritt brings athletically.
My love for college football has went from a 11/10 to 7/10 these past 10 years.I liked the idea of amateurism. Now that’s gone. At least NFL players are under contract and can’t just chase another payday anytime they want.
I’m just not interested in Tennessee minor league football. Which is what it is now.
There are plenty of us Vol fans that will pull for the guys on Orange and White. See ya GBOI liked the idea of amateurism. Now that’s gone. At least NFL players are under contract and can’t just chase another payday anytime they want.

There definitely needs to be structure brought to college athletics, with some official governing and regulating of NIL spending and of the school-affiliated collectives.I liked the idea of amateurism. I do not mind some type of control over the market that has become college football players. However I do mind dog eat dog capitalism for coaches and capped markets for players. If coaches have free markets then so should players. Coaches don't skip around? How about Saban skipping out on LSU for $s to the NFL then skipping out on the NFL for more $s at Bama? He's now the high priest and grand poobah of righteousness for players now that he sold his axx on the street much like a $3 prostitute. Lincoln Riley, recall that guy? Had a good contract at Oklahoma and USC called using $s and he went to their high bid. Anybody recall Kiffin's one and done here at UT? How about Doug Dickey leaving UT like a thief in the night to our then bowl opponent the Flordia Gators? If it's dog eat dog for coaches then so shall it be for players in my opinion and I can live with it.There definitely needs to be structure brought to college athletics, with some official governing and regulating of NIL spending and of the school-affiliated collectives.
There needs to be a collective bargaining agreement, with uniformity in salary caps and an enforcement governing body (not the NCAA). This will all eventually come to pass, but it will take some considerable time and patience.
In the meantime, if you really do feel this way .... then maybe you should find other interests to spend your leisure time with.
There will always be some double standards. That's inescapable. That doesn't necessarily mean one side will be treated inequitably, however. Elite players are going to make considerably more than elite coaches in the near future. That's how it is in professional sports leagues in North America with salary caps, and that's how it will one day be with "College" athletics as well.I do not mind some type of control over the market that has become college football players.
