Is History repeating itself?

Heupel to Southern California, fired after 3 years, hired by Satan as offensive coordinator; immediately buys a box of cigars & a new cell phone !!!

Heupel doesn't have much love for OU after Stoops fired him as OC.

Fulmer to _____ if we don’t fire Majors
Interesting hypothetical.

I certainly think he'd want to stay in the southeast, and preferably in the SEC. He would also have more exposure, and so more likely offers, around there.

Have to believe he would be itching for a head coach position sooner rather than later, starting about the same time he got the nod at Tennessee. So probably '93 or '94, maybe as late as '95 or '96 but the first two years are most likely.

In '93, Auburn and Arkansas were both looking for a new coach. Auburn seems the better fit. So maybe Phillip goes there instead of them picking up Terry Bowden.

A year later, in '94, Clemson and South Carolina are both in the market. No idea which of these would be more likely.

Later, in '95 and '96, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss all come open. Is it Fulmer instead of Jim Donnan at UGa? In place of Gerry DiNardo in Baton Rouge? Or Phillip instead of Tommy Tuberville at Ole Miss?

Of all those purely hypothetical possibilities, I'd have to put my money on Auburn in '93. If we hadn't gotten him, I think that's where he'd be.

What part of Arkansas?
Bee Branch. Which growing up, I always thought was spelled B-Branch, heh. Didn't learn the correct spelling for a surprisingly long time.

EDIT: But also Pine Bluff. Just remembered that a couple of my dad's uncles and their families were there.

We spend a few days each spring hiking and camping in NW Arkansas but this year we went further south and were just west of Hot Springs. Last year, a few of us went floating on the Buffalo River. That was a great time. I love being outdoors and Arkansas is a shorter drive than Colorado. Lots to explore down there.

I was, of course, just having fun giving you grief earlier. :)

Folks say parts of Arkansas, like the Ozarks, are beautiful. So I have to believe them. It's just all the parts I've seen always look more like a slightly browner and more dried-out version of Mississippi or Alabama. Heh.

I am not as familiar with eastern Arkansas but that makes sense.

I've not looked through all 5 pages of this thread and someone may have already mentioned this but if Riley leaves OU, Urban Meyer will be their first, and prob last, call. I'm surprised Meyer hasn't taken the Southern Cal job to be honest and if he passes that up, with the way everything is shaking down here in Jax, he will NOT PASS up OU.

This coach has beat 0 teams he wasn’t supposed to.

He hasn’t won a big game yet

Hadn’t taken us to a bowl game

Hasn’t recruited any highly touted kids

Lost to Pitt

Got beat by FL to lost to KY

Oklahoma probably going to be looking for someone else.

If true we hire Luke Fickell, Kendal Briles, Gus Malzahn, Hugh Freeze, or Jamey Chadwell and keep rolling right along. Wouldn't be the end of the world... just build on what Heupel laid and keep rolling.

New coach

Black uniforms for South Carolina

Next, Lincoln Riley gets hired in the NFL

Heupel jumps to Oklahoma after one season because its his dream job

Curse continues
This much thought starts with black unis? Lol

ummmm…….Missouri was favored to win.

Losing to Pitt is somehow terrible? You realize they have the best offense in the country…..right? With one of the best QB’s in the country….right?

I get your point but…….losing to Pitt……especially how Tennessee lost……isn’t really a “knock.”………not to mention your first sentence is wrong.
