Is History repeating itself?

Bump for this clue: we humans are pattern-seekers. We see patterns everywhere. Even where they don't really mean anything.

Congrats, you found a pattern. One involving uniform colors, of all things.

The chance this pattern of yours has any importance in the real world, any predictive power, is very low. Some might say zero. They might not be wrong.

But you did find a pattern. I'll put a little gold star on the refrigerator for you, shall I? :)

Should be when you can recruit on a bicycle or rapid transit bus, but the lack of success by USC and UCLA is puzzling to me. Is it the lack of fervor for college FB in pro sports dominated area? The whole Pac-10 slide is puzzling to me. Does anybody have the distribution numbers of high 4 and 5 star guys in Pac-10 states that stay in that footprint vs going outside? How about productivity of those guys vs their star rating compared to other regions? Folks track strange things in this world.
I mean they have the talent. Heck it’s arguable USC already has the talent on their roster. Look at what Heupel did with Velus Jones for example. USC just hasn’t had the coach that can utilize that talent to make the program a National power.

Bob or Mark will be the next HC in Norman
Stoops (pick one) to OK

KY convinces Calipari to take a pay cut so they can offer Heupel 15 years, 300 Mill

After a rash of mattress fires leaves large portions of Knoxville in flames DW offers Derek Dooley a lifetime contract if he promises to never take another job

Dooley declines. Knoxville goes on lockdown due to riots. After the fires are put out Skip Holtz is reportedly offered the job

Skip accepts and hires Lee Corso and Lou Holtz as his coordinators.

Seems about as likely as some of the other trash I have seen on here the last 24 hours

I'm not so sure that Oklahoma is Heupel's dream job. Stoops fired him and they've been cold ever since then. Oklahoma chose Lincoln Riley over Heupel. He seems to be genuinely peeved about all that. He wants to prove everyone wrong, just like he did when he was a college QB and major schools ignored him.

What could possibly prove everyone wrong more than restoring Tennessee to greatness? He'd basically been doing exactly what Stoops did at Oklahoma.

Besides, people forget that Heupel was only at OU for 1 year. He went to school at Weber State then Snow College. Think he was a 5th year player by the time he played at Oklahoma.
What if scenario here… if CJH restores Tennessee to greatness and OU comes open again would he bolt? That’s the problem everytime it opens up.. this is just for sheets and giggles

No, he wouldn't. And it's not even a close decision.

Look, Tennessee when competing for championships is just as much a destination job as Bama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, or any other school you can name. Some Vols fans don't realize that, because it's been a hot minute since we were last in that situation., But leading the Volunteers is HUGELY attractive when we're doing well.

So once Josh Heupel gets us back to competing for championships, there's nowhere enticing for him to go, except perhaps the NFL. He had no favorite Power 5 college team as a kid, so there's no emotional tug. We have solid financial foundation, so there's no monetary advantage anywhere else. Few places match the historic prestige. We're in the most illustrious and competitive conference already. Facilities are as good as anywhere in the country. Fan base is passionate. And lately, university leadership is wildly supportive.

If he rebuilds us, he stays with us. Again, with the one possible exception that he could be drawn to the NFL.

It's really that simple. Folks making a lot more of this than there is.

Go Vols!
