Is History repeating itself?

If the OU job did open up, I’m not sure that Heupel would be very high on their list. That’s not a judgement on his coaching ability, more of a reflection on how good of a job Oklahoma is and the type of candidates that they can attract.

And even if JH did get an offer from OU for some strange reason, I have to think DW built in a buy out clause OU would have to pay if he bolted unlike Hamilton did for Lk’s contract.

Bro even if if if, your scenario plays forward. If Riley leave Oklahoma and they are interested in Heupel and that being his alma mater. The one thing you have to remember. How can Heupel be as comfortable with an Athletic Director as he is with Danny White. Of all the coaches who wanted no part of this Tennessee job because of no stability. Heupel came here because he trust AD White. And White trusting Heupel to be his guy at 2 different places. That's the kind of thing Josh Heupel can not ignore that and he is clearly smart enough to just up and leave us in my opinion.

OU might find out what LSU, Ga, Fla, Tennessee, Auburn etc have found out. Unless you’re spending crazy money (A&M kind) big time successful coaches aren’t interested in getting in this shooting gallery.

Heupel and White are linked until this goes south or they build a empire. I’m on the side of empire. This is a perfect combination . We might not beat Georgia but I bet we score the most points on them.

Next, Lincoln Riley gets hired in the NFL

Heupel jumps to Oklahoma after one season because its his dream job

Curse continues

And Dooley's going to Ga, Butch to Mich. and Pruitt to Bama.

You have a point. A million or so less to coach at a B10 or Pac12 school where there may only be 2-3 dragons to slay a year does have it's benefits. An extra million a year In the SEC once you are at a certain salary to only get your head beaten in every week doesn't mean so much does it?

Think a lot of candidates might be scared of the SEC.
