Is Dobbs the best SEC QB in 2016?

Anybody being intellectually honest about it put Kelly ahead of Dobbs...comfortably ahead of Dobbs.

I could make the argument Dobbs could've put up similar numbers if he was placed in Kelly's situation.

Remember Freeze runs an air raid type offense built on throwing. They don't run the ball often or very well. While we run a zone read rushing attack. We ran the ball more than anyone in the SEC and were rarely behind. We also had almost no healthy wide receivers. While Ole Miss had 3-4 NFL wide receivers with one of them being arguably the best in the nation.

Dobbs and Kelly weren't even remotely in the same situation.

The only game where Dobbs played in a situation similar to Kelly this year was UGA. It was the only game where we fell behind by more than 7 points and we were forced to throw almost every down. Dobbs ended that game with 312 yards passing, 118 yards rushing, and 5 TDs against the #1 pass defense in the country.

I'm sure if you gave Dobbs the Ole Miss receivers and said he could throw 30 times a game instead of 20, he would put up similar passing numbers.

Really? Florida almost stopped him completely

""""In 1999, Martin led the Vols to their second consecutive BCS bowl. During Martin's two years as a starter at Tennessee, the Vols were undefeated against 5 of his main conference rivals, (2–0 vs Alabama, 2–0 vs Auburn, 2–0 vs Georgia, 2–0 vs Vanderbilt, 2-0 vs Kentucky, and 1–1 vs Florida)""".
Your idea of stopped him completely, and my are at odds!I guess I need to know what you mean by "stopped completely", I hope you're not in the brake business....:eek:lol::loco::thud:

I mentioned Florida specifically since you did too. What are his stats against them?

You want a guy who gets into bar fights in the off-season?

Leadership alone makes Dobbs better. Plus we can rely on him to get thru the off-season without incident.

Are you sure Chad Kelly can get through this off-season clean? Cause he hasn't done that yet to this point.
I don't really care if chad Kelly gets through the offseason clean or not. Do you want a qb or a Nobel peace prize winner

Dobbs will never be the best passer, but he's solid enough to be a legit dual threat and he's a hell of a leader. Mad respect. A lot of people forget how he laid it all out there in the UF game because of the result. Go back and watch that game. Freaking warrior.

I have huge respect for Dobbs and in big part because of how he laid it out in that game. But it's annoying when people go insane and start comparing him to Peyton (or Butch to Fulmer). We should not really compare anyone to our Vol royalty until they actually WIN something of significance.

Agreed. But saying "He's our best QB since Peyton" isn't really comparing the two. While I would put Casey and Tee over Dobbs by far atm because those two HAVE won big games. When Dobbs beats UF/Bama and wins a championship then you can say "best since Peyton" imo. So agree.

Just curious, for those who don't think Dobbs is the best QB in the SEC next year, who would you rather have? Seriously.
None of the negas will respond, naturally. What those sally sues who probably never played the game themselves can't recognize is that Joshua Dobbs isn't just a multi-talented quarterback, but he's a true-to-the-core football player as well. Adding to his well established leadership next year will be a (you've gotta' believe it'll happen) improved passing game to go with his other gifts, which will likely be honed to even a greater degree. Indeed, Teeman; who'd these clowns rather have? I'll take Mister Dobbs to make 1st team SEC in 2016...in a landslide.:salute:

does it matter if we think he's the best QB or the media votes him the # 1 returning QB if we lose to FL gain?
no. i don't care about the pre season hype and prognostication. earn it. beat FL.

That's cause I am. But like most genuises, we get ridiculed for our precocious predictions before being celebrated after we're proven right.

Don't forget. I'll be here next year to accept your apologies.

A little advice that was given to me a long time ago,"you never want to be the smartest guy in the room."

How about the fact he held a record for many years for the most completions in a row. Which makes your comment about not hitting the broad side of a barn look incredibly silly.

He looks pretty accurate in this video :loco:

After watching the video there are some things that clearly stand out. One, a great OL that gave Tee all day to sit back and throw. I know you downplay the importance of a great OL but the fact is OL make a difference in the pass game. Secondly, stud WR that consistently beat coverage, got open and catch passes.

Oh and I dont know how I forgot this one, Martin threw little to no deep balls in that game. He threw short passes for the majority of the game. Mostly screen passes and dink and dunk. Dobbs has made the same kind of throws that Tee made in that video this season. One of the biggest difference between the two is Dobbs has been under pressure A LOT more than Martin ever thought about.
