Is Debord a place holder for Manning?

Really? THIS is the subject you enjoy reading about?

You know.....we just had a Top 5 recruiting class (two in a row actually), Spring Practice is just around the corner, we now have a lot of studs on our team, we had several players leave the team for various reasons (ie..playing time, harsh talking coaches, rape charges), we're already in on a bunch of very talented young men for next year, a couple of sights have listed us as outside dark horses for playoffs next year....many different things to read about on here.

This is what you enjoy reading about? Whether our new OC is a place holder until Manning decides he wants to come to UT as an OC?

You go on reading the stuff that interests you, I'll go on with what I'm doing. I hope I can scare a few people into not asking questions, if this is the type they are asking. It will never happen I know, but I can at least hope......and try.

You make valid points you do. I have read all that stuff, and much more. All I was trying to say was... You don't have to take the time to come into the thread just to be an a**. Yes their are people that might like to have this conversation. If you don't fine. leave everyone else alone.

IF IF IF Peyton wants to coach I think it's on the pro level. Would not surprise me to see Peyton go into high level politics .,,, Tim Tebow as well..,,not predicting it,,,. just saying that's where I think we could see them after football IF IF IF they decide to make their mark.,,,Have fun torching that but it's JMO..,,,

I don't think Peyton will coach. BUT, if he did, I actually think he would be more in tune with coaching college.

It is amazing how many people don't realize this.

Look at (one of) the reason he didn't come to Tennessee to continue playing. He walks into a meeting room and people are following him and waiting at his car for 4 hours.

He doesn't want to deal with that and surely wouldn't deal with it 10x worse if associated directly with his alma mater.

Manning coaching at UT = Gruden coaching at UT

Both love UT, but neither wants the grind of coaching and recruiting at the college level.

How could you possibly speak to what Manning wants or doesn't want before he even finishes his NFL career?? Just curious. I've never heard him publicly say that he had no desire to coach on the collegiate level...

There's a shopowner here in ATL who explains to me every time I wear UT Gear that Peyton is coming back to be HC one day and he will save the program. I used to think he was kidding, but I've now learned he wholeheartedly believes this to be a fact.

It's now dawned upon me that he is not the only one and that there is actually a sector of our fanbase that is absolutely ****ing delirious.

Wait people really believe the "Peyton is coming back to UT to coach" thing? I thought that was a big inside joke on here like "racist imo" or Lovie Smith's plane still circling around Knoxville's airspace.

As much as Peyton loves UT I seriously don't think he is trying to coach at the college level. He can easily get a executive positiion in any NFL organization he wants. Though I would love to see him replace Hart as AD.

I agree. Maybe even a part owner in a team, and he could make his way back to Tennessee but I think it would be as a Titan GM, or part owner. I'm just guessing ,but I don't see him coaching at the college level at all.

I just don't see him as a paper pusher numbers guy, firing off memos and emails. He is the ultimate "student of the game" and there is no better way to pass on his craft then to be a coach in the college level. If he truely likes living in a film room, watching tape, then why wouldn't he want to do that for the next 10-20 years with future top QBs. How could a top QB recruit (or WR/RB) say no to Peyton Manning?

I watched Peyton's first game on TV. He's a ham. He loves to play to the camera. I look for him to become a NFL announcer after next season.

Television talking head is the likely destination. I don't see him coaching at any level.
