Is Brandon Huntley Hatfield one and done?

I honestly think Aidoo, with his personality, suffered a setback mentally with his performance against Purdue. Probably heard the rumbles from the fan base and wanted to go elsewhere

Aidoo and Nico both had the same problem of being too relaxed/chill, whatever.

There's a difference in being a cold-blooded killer on the court/field and being so chill that you aren't a "gamer". Mahomes is a calm guy buy a fiery competitor....same with Jordan, Manning, Kobe, Elway, Bird, Magic, Brady, etc.

Nico and Aidoo are just not fiery enough consistently. Aidoo allowed himself to be pushed around without even trying to hold ground (Cade Phillips is shorter and lighter but way stronger in post) and Nico had to get hit before his head was in the game and he was fired up...that's not the sign of a high level winner. That sounds like a guy who will infuriate you with potential and "flashes" but never consistently put it together. He has time to improve and become a leader but his balls need to drop and he needs to have his balls drop, tell his dad to "back up, I've got this" and take control of his life/career.

Would you draft him to lead your franchise if you're an NFL GM? Hell no! He would have to put up huge numbers and show a ton of leadership and maturity and Nico still might have to wait until after his Senior season to enter the draft. Leaving UCLA for anything less than starting on a potential NC caliber team will even further hurt his draft stock. It's sad how poorly his camp has mis-played their games with his future.

BHH just entered the portal again. But, he’s out of NCAA eligibility unless/until the NCAA approves a 5th year for basketball players.

It’s interesting how bad Louisville & NC State both were while BHH was with those programs. Coincidence?

Louisville was 12-52 during BHH’s 2 seasons there, and the coach was fired. (Then, Louisville immediately bounced back all the way to a Top Ten ranking this year as soon as BHH left Louisville for NC State.)

Meanwhile, NC State made the Final Four last year, but went 12-19 this year with BHH, and another coach gets fired.

BHH had little or nothing to do with either but he also didn't help. Definitely coincidence, though.

He played two seasons for arguably the worst college basketball coach in NCAA history at Louisville, and last year with a guy who wouldn’t have been coaching anywhere had he not made the FF the year before.

Kenny Payne was a disaster, but I hadn't thought of just how much of a disaster until I read this. At first it seemed harsh. Now, I am thinking you may be right.

You'd be amazed at some of the things that took place. Players refusing to run in practice, Kenny not returning phone calls to coaches and recruits, refusing to utilize NIL funds, etc. Zero organization.

Hatfield had too many handlers and amateur agents. i am sure it is fun to be re-recruited every season but if he had buckled down and played hard for Barnes, his vagabond college career and pro potential would be dramatically different. When does reality finally hit the 5-star flameouts?
