It's just the best they could come up with to cover their ineptness in getting suckered in by Bibi to allowing and joining the attacks.Saying we obliterated their ability to make nuclear weapons, followed by starting a war with them because we now say we didn't obliterate their ability to make nuclear weapons, is so obviously a lie that it's funny you're trying to argue otherwise
So you think you can just tell NATO to stay calm for two years if Trump diverts all assets from them, moves forces, closes bases, and doesn't provide support? And then you think putting all that shat back can happen quick? If thats the case then I don't know why anyone is worried about UkraineMaybe, but he only has 2 years left. Any EO will be voided before it could have any real affect on them
Evidently ttuck isn’t aware of how fanatical the Japanese were and what they had prepared to do for defense of their homeland. It was going to be island to island and house to house. Yes, they were beaten but they still had plenty of soldiers and citizens wiling to die to defend it. I don’t like innocent people getting killed but when faced with the question of 40,000 civilians versus one million potential American casualties, I’ll have to take Door #1.Let’s hear your no loss of life ways of ending the war. We will all wait. While you’re at it perhaps you could consider addressing the initial point (coup attempt) that you’ve ignored numerous times in favor of these lame virtue signals.
He Sure Does....“Ironic” is a word that is overused, but probably appropriate for McNamara making those comments. He sounds like an old man trying to make amends.
Trump may technically be able to do those things, but I think he is going to face increasing resistance from his own party. Republicans are soon going to start thinking about a future after Trump and become a little more bold in challenging him.So you think you can just tell NATO to stay calm for two years if Trump diverts all assets from them, moves forces, closes bases, and doesn't provide support? lol. Let me know when that starts. We have already given away the midterms for this clownTrump may technically be able to do those things, but I think he is going to face increasing resistance from his own party. Evidently neither was Eisenhower and many other experts at the time. No offense Delmar I have no problem disagreeing, as you aren't disrespectful about it.Evidently ttuck isn’t aware of how fanatical the Japanese were and what they had prepared to do for defense of their homeland. I may have to watch it. McNamara is a cautionary tale for the “best and the brightest” that have all of the answers. Also I wonder if “self absolution” is really a thing??He Sure Does....
Some called the documentary "11 lessons of self-exculpation" whose testimony provides a "rueful" final, and the saddest lesson..."self-absolution" rather than accepting true accountability,
Still a great documentary for these times.
Someone asked earlier about the firebombing of Tokyo and other cities, and the loss of civilian lives in those events was FAR greater than the two atomic bombs. And it didn’t faze Hirohito or their leadership one bit. They were going to keep going. The Allies ultimately would have prevailed but the cost in Allied lives would have been horrendous. They saw we could annihilate cities with a single bomb and that finally convinced Hirohito to surrender. The Japanese pretty much fought to the last man on island after island in the Pacific campaign.
They withstood a campaign of firebombing that killed over 300k, 100k in one night in Tokyo.
Sure, I guess it’s possible they were primed to just roll over and surrender their homeland - the ultimate act of cowardice in their culture.
I don’t mind it. It’s a cautionary tale in dealing with fanatics who hate you more than life itself. If you don’t learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it. You can’t coddle fanatics. They don’t care if they die trying to kill you. The Muslim fanatics are no different than the Japs were. And unfortunately, those fanatics won’t hesitate to put innocent civilians at risk.Move this WWII chatter
