Afg would have been over in 3mos if executed correctly. There was zero reason to make that an extended war. The slap in the face occured when their lives and sacrifice were ahown to be worthless in the war machine

Putin would have not dare invaded in 2022 had he not seen our weakness. Add to that we watched the build up on the border for months and said nothing.

What I mean is that the president isn’t the only one shaping decisions. Big policies especially things like war are influenced by a whole network of people and institutions. Congress, the defense and intelligence agencies, lobbyists, large industries, think tanks, and political donors. Corporations and interest groups absolutely try to influence policy through lobbying and campaign funding, but so do unions, advocacy groups, and others. So it’s less about one hidden group pulling strings and more about a system where a lot of powerful interests are competing to influence decisions.

dude, you still can't get the dates right even after a second attempt. Russia was in the suburbs of Kyiv in spring of 2022.

even without addressing the little green men and medals Russia gave out to those "separatists", there was a lot more happening in Ukraine than just Crimea. parts of three or four of their other states were occupied by Russian forces.

I know its impossible to keep up with all the lies Putin gave out justifying this and that and the other, but the basic timeline is pretty easy to look back and review.

Putin was already occupying Crimea and part of the Donbas. He escalated the invasion in 2022, because the FSB 5th Service command in charge of Ukrainian operations had been lying to him and telling him that Ukrainians would roll over and accept Russia installing a Ukrainian Lukashenko. Sergey Beseda and his deputy were arrested for doing so.

The faulty intelligence led to Russia sending in conscripts with little gear, but parade uniforms for a march in Kyiv that was to take place within 2 weeks, and the VDV getting obliterated at the Battle of Hostomel Airport, when they attempted to decapitate the Ukrainian government.

Actually, it passed the senate 75-22, with Republicans voting 31 for and 15 against.

And it didn't earmark $ for surgery. It mentioned funds could be used for gender affirming care, which there are MANY forms of that, like for example mental health treatment. The odds any significant amount of $ actually going to trans surgery in Somalia are probably pretty low.

I'd love to get rid of the large majority of foreign aid (over time), but going back to the well on this AGAIN because people are concerned about the insane big picture spending spree we are on right now....you're useful to them.

Let's be real, any bill supporting anything overseas there is a good chance most if not all of that money is being laundered and going for something else entirely.

You know it's a bald-faced lie to call it ransom when it wasn't our $, right? It was their $, we just unfroze the funds.

It wasn't an end-around congress because this action didn't apply to the INARA.

Also, they are trying to prove that this action encouraged more hostage taking when that's always what Iran has done, since the 70s.

Look at that. Can't believe the Heritage Foundation would mislead anybody about Iran. What is the world coming to?

We have to pay the mercenaries to go out and start chanting first. It’s still too risky for what we’re currently paying. That’s why the US Aid cuts didn’t last.
