Iran

I think you thought that. You specifically stated “blockade” and then compared us trying to open the strait to D-Day

We can do most of the work from the air
## Why reopening the Strait of Hormuz militarily is extremely difficult

The **Strait of Hormuz** is one of the most difficult waterways in the world to force open during a conflict. Even though the **United States Navy** is extremely powerful, geography and Iranian military tactics make it dangerous and slow to secure.

Here are the main reasons.

---

## 1. The strait is extremely narrow

At its tightest point the strait is about **21 miles (34 km) wide**, but the actual shipping lanes are much smaller.

* Each tanker lane is only about **2 miles wide**.
* Ships must pass **very close to Iranian territory**.
* Tankers are slow and predictable targets.

That means Iranian forces along the coast can **target ships with missiles, drones, or small boats with very little warning**.

---

## 2. Iran controls the high ground along the coast

Iran’s military—especially the **Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps**—has spent decades preparing to fight in this exact location.

They have deployed:

* **Anti-ship cruise missiles**
* **Ballistic anti-ship missiles**
* **Coastal radar and targeting systems**
* **Mobile missile launchers that move frequently**

Because many launchers are **mobile or hidden in mountains**, they are very hard to eliminate completely.

Even if the U.S. destroys many sites, **a few surviving launchers could still threaten shipping**.

---

## 3. Naval mines can shut down shipping for weeks

One of the most effective tools Iran has is **naval mines**.

Iran possesses **thousands of mines**, including:

* Simple contact mines
* Magnetic mines
* Smart mines that detect ship signatures

The problem:

* **A few dozen mines can close a shipping lane.**
* Clearing them requires **slow minesweeping operations**.

The **United States Navy** and allies can remove mines, but it can take **days or weeks**, and minesweepers themselves become targets.

During the **Tanker War**, even limited mining caused major disruptions.

---

## 4. Iran uses “swarm tactics” with fast attack boats

Iran’s naval doctrine focuses on **asymmetric warfare**.

Instead of large ships, they use:

* Dozens of **fast attack boats**
* **Armed speedboats**
* **Missile boats**
* **Explosive drone boats**

These boats can attack tankers or escorts in **large swarms**, overwhelming defenses.

Even if most are destroyed, **one successful hit on a tanker could halt shipping again**.

---

## 5. Air and drone threats complicate escorts

Iran also has:

* Long-range **drones**
* **Anti-ship missiles**
* **Ballistic missiles**
* Land-based aircraft

These can target ships **hundreds of miles away**, meaning even escorting tankers with warships doesn’t eliminate risk.

---

✅ **Bottom line:**
Reopening the Strait of Hormuz militarily isn’t just about defeating Iran’s navy. The U.S. would have to:

1. Destroy coastal missile systems
2. Neutralize drones and aircraft
3. Clear naval mines
4. Protect ships from swarm attacks
5. Maintain constant patrols

Even for the **United States Navy**, that can take **significant time and carries real risk**, which is why blockading the strait is considered one of Iran’s most powerful strategic moves.

Demand moves faster than supply. It takes the producers time to adjust. It's possible that things are restored without the supply chain ever being disrupted in a significant way. All of this is a reaction to world events and this is how you prevent a shortage. We don't wait until it gets here and then react.

Every lib would lose there everloving minds if we didn't restrain Israel. At the same time they wouldn't utter a peep if we bombed Israel. What their real problem is that the left hates Israel and they hate the United States of America.
Hatred of Israel isn’t necessarily a left vs right issue. The entire political spectrum is infected by antisemitism.
It is a spiritual battle. People hate God‘s chosen people because Satan has never stopped trying to destroy them. It is proxy war from the spiritual realm

This war ain't ending anytime soon. Regardless of the lies that spew from Trump and his babbling goon squad.

We're stuck in a Chinese finger trap of our own making.

Iran will continue to block Hormuz for as long as they choose. Or Trump can put boots on the ground. Either situation is no bueno.

Watch the financial markets whipsaw over the next week or so as this reality sets in.

Hope I'm wrong.

Ya they just showed so much restraint in Lebanon
You have no clue how badly the Jews could f'up any of the other Mid East countries that messed with them if they had free reign. If it weren't for the U.S. playing footsie and preventing them, Hell we tried to stop them in Gaza. Israel would have destroyed Iran a long time ago. In fact, I would rather square off with China or Russia than Israel.

I totally agree.

You have no idea what I know and think

Irrelevant as it never got to that point ...

Witkoff also claimed that he and Kushner, on behalf of the US, offered to provide Iran nuclear fuel for the next decade on the condition it was not used for any weapons program.

“They rejected that, which told us at that very moment that they had no — no notion of doing anything other than retaining enrichment for the purpose of weaponizing.”
"Witkoff claimed" is really doing a number on you, especially when everyone else says he's lying

Yeah, the plastics comment was a little funny, but to be fair, I think he raised some good questions that should be addressed. It's not that obvious why producers react slowly.

The United States government has
not officially confirmed that a Tomahawk missile hit the Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab, Iran.

While an official admission of responsibility has not been made, there are significant and conflicting statements from various U.S. officials and agencies as of March 10, 2026:
Why did you cut off the end, with the significant and conflicting statements? Was it because Trump referred to Tomahawks and how Iran apparently has them?

Your „response“ has absolutely zero logical connection to the discussion but merely constitutes an extremely milquetoast ad hominem attack.
I know you are capable of doing better.
Oh, so a guy in therapy isn’t an acceptable response to your meme featuring a person in therapy? Sounds like you’re wimping out like Trump admin begging for a ceasefire as soon as someone hits back.

It’s just price gouging to take advantage of a man made crisis. Take the “kick me” sign off your back. It’s OK to hold the thieves responsible.

Why isn't gas $8/gallon all the time then? Why sell it for $2.50 when people will pay $8?

Your personality is the perfect archetype of a conspiracy theorist, and it's absolute hilarious. Your lines of argumentation couldn't be more out of central casting.
