Don't tell hog this because his ego is already big enough, but he has had an influence on me about the death penalty. I don't go as far as he does, I think there is room for it with the right irrefutable proof, but I do agree that the system is too fraught with issues to justify ending a life.

I support it for extreme violent & sexual crimes- Crimes against children and women.
Must be irrefutable evidence to prove the crime; but if proven... The world is a better place with them being an example of the consequence for harming a woman or child.
Predators have no place in our society.

Yeah, I don’t like it. I guess now that it’s been put into motion I’m hoping for 1) no boots on the ground, 2) Iranian people are able to effect the change internally and don’t end up hating us eternally because we screwed it all up again and 3) this doesn’t spread like an out of control wildfire across multiple regions. Tall order, I know.

I agree that it sounds like we are depleting our ability to defend our nation and it looks intentional to me.

Trump was supposed to bring manufacturing back to the US, but it seems he has reversed course and is depleting our stockpiles to continue what Biden started.

I respect what my parents and their generation have provided for us, but at the same time it seems to have been on borrowed money and at great expense as we have lost the production capability that the government textbooks credited with winning World War II.

I would be shocked if we ever depleted inventory from our Homeland Defense. We can give that appearance to the World; but I just don't see that as reality.
This isn't even a real war yet; we go on shopping sprees when it comes to Military/Defense. It's like "You shouldn't buy a new truck unless you can afford to pay for it in cash twice".
We aren't dwindling our inventory down that would protect the U.S. I'm sure we have tech that isn't even known about that could be used incase of emergency.

Secondly, manufacturing is definitely coming back to the U.S.; but jobs aren't. I worked on a bid for a 600,000+ SQft facility that'll employ a little over 100 people. Comparable plants have upwards 1,000-2,000 employees.

I don’t harbor any moral objection to a people or society that collectively declare - for this infraction, the penalty is death.

I have a moral objection to any system that repeatedly gets it wrong. We have shown that we repeatedly get it wrong.

Beyond a reasonable doubt is too low a burden of proof to deprive an individual of their ultimate liberty.

Iranian drones, shahed's, are being used to attack military and civilian areas in the Middle East. They need missle interceptors tha Ukraine has to counter them. We are low and asking for them as well. Ukraine is saying we will give you some if you give us some weapons that they need

Incredibly rare. The Columbine shooters might be a good example of being able to meet some “super burden” of irrefutable truth.

Testimony is not enough on its own.
Classic forensics is not enough on its own.
DNA forensics is not enough on its own.

Combine all 3 and you’re still not there imo.
Combine all 3 plus clear video evidence? Maybe.
