The extremist Muslim who is waging a holy war is also building nuclear weapons that he ruled as haram. It’s hilarious
This is somewhat flawed as the Intel for WMD's dated back to at least the Clinton administration, Sadaam famously told his interviewer he made up and perpetuated that WMD program as a means to keep his enemies in Iran and elsewhere in check and insecure about escalating hostilities toward Iraq. Before the initial invasion, support for war with Iraq was around 66% amongst Americans. Immediately following the invasion, it went up to 70ish percent. That was the peak support for the war, approval only went down from there. If you were a kid, you wouldn’t recall Colin Powell going to the UN, making a famously inept speech trying to garner support from UN allies… most of whom weren’t buying what the Bush admin was selling. They all have their own intelligence agencies and knew WMDs were made up.
This. All the dancing/cheering about taking out a lot of bad people doesn't mean much if the opportunity is squandered and, as you say, the onus really isn't on us to finish the job. (and it damned well shouldn't be)This is up to the people of Iran to nation build. We did what they couldn’t. If they put another horrible regime in to replace it then that’s on them
I’d expect them to improve their defense systems when it couldn’t stop a fly last summer. They received s400’s from Russia in 2024 which obviously did not help. We should learn to stop starting wars off assumptions with no evidenceI think the narrative has changed a bit, which makes one suspicious. That is, the reason offered before was that Iran was actively working to enrich weapons grade uranium. But now, it appears that the explanation is that Iran was beefing up its air defenses so as to prepare to enrich uranium.
As I said earlier, I am not sure -- based on limited information at this time -- whether that explanation is valid or an after-the-fact justification in light of information that there really wasn't a significant change in their nuclear posture. Just saying the theory on it has subtly changed in the last few days.
It's pretty well known if you know anything about aircraft carriers particularly US carriers. Please provide a link to your source.
Hate to break it to you; but we didn’t start a war this weekend. We have been at war with Iran since they killed 241 of our soldiers in Beruit in 1983. This weekend, we decided was time to finally end said war.I’d expect them to improve their defense systems when it couldn’t stop a fly last summer. US intel did not suggest a preemptive strike from Iran before US-Israeli attacks, AP sources say
Trump administration officials told congressional staff in private briefings that U.S. intelligence did not suggest Iran was preparing to launch a preemptive strike against the U.S.apnews.com
Agree. Trump campaigned that Iran was not to get a nuclear weapon just as much as he did on closing the southern border.Hate to break it to you; but we didn’t start a war this weekend.
