Iran

Clearly, you miss the point that Trumpy's family has always dodged military service under some pretence or another. And here we are again, with yet anither. It's not BS, it's history. And well, Britain's royal sons served in Afghanistan {Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex} for example. Now, what's your excuse for baby bone spur? OH, I know, cover for Trump with both hands and all four feet. MAGAs gonna MAGA.
I think the males in the UK royal family all serve.

I never said the Nazis made up the word Iran. It was already a word in Farsi and the original name of "old Persia." They were certainly were not trying to distance themselves from their ancient past, they partly wanted identify with it. The West called them Persia, the Greeks first.
It was the Nazis who suggested the go back to Iran. For along time both names were recognized as official by Iran.
1935 Nazis had enough pull to put an idea into a middle eastern country, push it enough to get local support, and eventually officially adopted by the country, its leaders, and the world? I bet you believe some Russian facebook adds won the election for Trump too.

The Nazis came to power in Germany in January 1933, the Persians changed their name in March 1935. those nazis worked super duper fast.

the Nazis were plenty powerful, but they weren't that powerful. especially in 1935. this was something Persia/Iran was going to do regardless.

What's funny is a buddy I grew up with was from Iran...his parents came here. When asked where he was from he ALWAYS said Persia. Asked his ethnicity he said Persian. He didnt like Arabs either. He still caught Hell after 911 even though Iran wasnt behind it. I told him he couldn't come to my Mom's house anymore because she thought he was a terrorist. He actually believed me for a second and we laughed our azzes off. I dont know if he claimed Persia because Iran always had that "Death to America" bs....or just claimed Persia because he knew my NC public school educated buddies were ignorant and wouldn't know that Persia isn't a country anymore.
Yep, I know a doctor who is Persian and he gets pissed if you call him Iranian.

Persian Vol sounds a lot cooler than Iranian Vol

Also Persian is the ethnicity. Iranian is the nationality. But not all Iranians are Persians. But most Persians are Iranians.

And Trump males fake medical excuses to avoid service. It's a family heirloom. Captain Bone spur, you know.

Though papa sort of served SAFELY. Barron, maybe it's OK as he's not really Trump's son. ;)

You have a serious problem and should seek help.

President Trump is about to be 80 years old.

Why do you care so much about something from 60 years ago?

Joe Biden who got 5 deferments & Obama didn't serve either.

OK, you happy now? Great MAGA detour tactic, just the same. Can I make another Barron joke?

They changed from Persia to Iran at the suggestion of Nazi Germany. In Farsi Iran means "Land of the Aryans". The arab world was very sympathetic to the Nazis, they were in lockstep in their hatred of the Jews. We see the remnants of it it in the Islamofascists (terrorists) of today.
Historically, Iran was commonly referred to as "Persia" in the Western world.[1] Likewise, the modern-day ethnonym "Persian" was typically used as a demonym for all Iranian nationals, regardless of whether or not they were ethnic Persians. This terminology prevailed until 1935, when, during an international gathering for Nowruz, the Shah of Iran, Reza Shah Pahlavi officially requested that foreign delegates begin using the endonym "Iran" in formal correspondence. Subsequently, "Iran" and "Iranian" were standardised as the terms referring to the country and its citizens, respectively. In 1959, the last Iranian Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, announced that it was appropriate to use both "Persia" and "Iran" in formal correspondence.[2] Dana Pishdar (Zana Vahidzadeh) notes that the terminology shift from "Persia" to "Iran" in 1935 was more than a mere change in foreign naming conventions; it represented a reclamation of national identity rooted deeply in the region's long history.[3]

So much bull**** in this thread.

"Many in the Arab world did not support the Nazis, and thousands of Palestinian Arabs even fought alongside the British."
