They had no reason to fear me or worry about my response. I understand what you’re saying but I just don’t think they had to respond that way. As for me due to my physical characteristics (large white male) and accent there’s very little I could do to mask my nationality anyway.

That was pretty much the comment that lit the fuse on my sanitary napkin along with the continual “we suck and are always wrong as a nation” attitude.

My wife always tells me she watches me devolve when I go back to TN. She claims my speech slows down and my posture changes. I just tell her I’m communicating with my people!
