I'm Going Vegetarian...

Pets aren't bred as food. Ridiculous argument.

This may be the most ignorant remark in the history of the Animal Rights debate. You really believe that a living creature's right to humane treatment depends on its intended use, arbitrarily assigned by man?

Pets are domesticated. End of story. Excuse me, there's a squirrel outside my window I'm gonna go shoot it.

Sure do.

I'm not gonna debate whether or not dickens statement was ignorant because he's known for ignorant statements.. :eek:lol: However, does "animal rights" have any debate in the "survival of the fittest" theory?

And you call yourself a man?...

Since when did the food that I eat determine whether I am a male or female?

First, the notion that some people "see nothing wrong" with the torture of humans is irrelevant. I'm pretty sure that we all agree that torture is a terrible act.

The next statement is exactly my point. There are, undoubtedly, more "humane" ways to "make that process as easy as possible on the animals." With a little research into the subject, you will find that masses of our foodsources are subject to unimaginable pain from chicken debeaking and other body-part removal, confinement into extremely tight quarters, and live-dipping into boiling fluids.

Again, I don't have a problem with the consumption of God-given animals as food, but I it's crazy that we treat dogs, cats, and other animals as royalty, while we turn a blind eye to the cruel handling of others. The media and public berated Mike Vick for the dogfighting gig, but most eat animals treated just as bad.

I know that this is a touchy subject and one that most people close-mindedly reject with stupid statements like "I'm going to go eat me a steak." They are missing the point.

Thanks.

I can take a stray dog and torture it, then cook and eat it then?

I wish lions would be nicer to the animals they kill for food.

My roommate uses the same argument. It's invalid. You can't compare lions and humans. Humans have the ability to swiftly and mercilessly kill their food with little to no pain, yet they don't.

Wait, what? Domestication? The cows/chickens/whatever don't have a choice. Neither do cats, but really, would you domesticate a cow over a cat?

Earlier today, I had some country ham. About an hour ago, I had a medium rare sirloin with some fried shrimp.

Without reservation;

Screw PETA.

Screw anyone who has anything good to say about them.

Screw the humane society also.

Screw Emilou too!

May all food nazis go straight to H E double L where they all belong!!

Gsvol, I think you're just jealous. You want to be a vegetarian.

I had a Boca burger last night. I'm not kidding when I say this... it tasted better than real meat.

How's it going, VOLatile? Interested to see how you are feeling.

I'm sure you expected the reaction you got from many, but that's what you get in a closed-minded, set-in-its-ways, and hypocritical society such as the South.

I, for one, hope you are doing well. If you do decide to go back to eating meat, remember the ideals that initially drove you, and try to make reasonable choices, if you are financially able.

"God's Country" is meant to refer to the beautiful natural surroundings, not the disappointing culture that makes fun of a man for making a stand for Animal Rights while proclaiming kindness and humility.

Nothing helps your point like insulting an entire region, I guess.

Hmmm...I would hardly think a God would allow his country to be inhabited by such disappointments of the human race. But whatever.

No, but a comment like this means you should stay away from message boards.

Sorry, since I'm from the south, I'm new to the whole "internets" thing. Maybe I should go to an open minded area of the country like, say, San Francisco.

Utter hog wash like branding a whole region as dumb and clueless should be left off message boards, I would think.
