Yes, thank you windy. I make it a point to beat my dog on a daily basis.
(sarcasm)

:eek:lol: Well my geography professor brought it up a week or so ago about how he grew up somewhere and they had to keep an eye on their dog, or else someone would take it for food! So I thought of that again when I just read that.

The high seas would be filled with cow pirates headed to India. Duh...

I'm sure the chickfila cows would love that!

Lets be honest, a pro vegetarian thread isnt going to be a big hit on a Vol board, now i could see there being threads on the USC and UCLA boards about tailgating with veggie burgers and soy hot dogs.

Is that anything like a Cleveland Steamer?

Kentucky Hot Brown - two toasted bread slices, turkey, ham, bacon, tomato, Parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, American cheese, and some type of sauce. It's broiled and the cheese completely smothers the entire dish. Yummy!

I haven't a clue as to what a Cleveland Steamer might be.

The worst ever was the night I watched a woman send the waitress back to the kitchen to get her some ketchup for the lobster tail she had just been served.

Burgers, hot dogs, and fries is all ketchup is for. Even then, there is better stuff for each.

I think you're missing my entire point... I knew beforehand that I would get the reaction that I've gotten.

BTW, gonna grill some peppers and make me a nice veggie sammich tomorrow night. Prolly put a potato on the grill, too.

I'll give you burgers. That's the only thing I eat ketchup on. Mustard and red onions only for hot dogs. Ranch or A1 for the fries please. Preferrably A1.

To me, the killing of an animal is itself to a certain extent inhumane. And we torture other humans and some people see nothing wrong with that. I just don't get the fuss. I'm all for doing the best we can to make that process as easy as possible on the animals, but in the grand scheme of things, we are killing and eating them. This to me has more to do with some people's guilt factor involving that very thing than it does any ethical treatment of animals. If it were ethical, you'd be chasing them down yourself with a spear.

First, the notion that some people "see nothing wrong" with the torture of humans is irrelevant. I'm pretty sure that we all agree that torture is a terrible act.

The next statement is exactly my point. There are, undoubtedly, more "humane" ways to "make that process as easy as possible on the animals." With a little research into the subject, you will find that masses of our foodsources are subject to unimaginable pain from chicken debeaking and other body-part removal, confinement into extremely tight quarters, and live-dipping into boiling fluids.

Again, I don't have a problem with the consumption of God-given animals as food, but I it's crazy that we treat dogs, cats, and other animals as royalty, while we turn a blind eye to the cruel handling of others. The media and public berated Mike Vick for the dogfighting gig, but most eat animals treated just as bad.

I know that this is a touchy subject and one that most people close-mindedly reject with stupid statements like "I'm going to go eat me a steak." They are missing the point.

I'm more concerned with the inhumane treatment of unborn babies that have their skulls crushed, brains sucked out and then thrown away.

. . . .As you should be. But, you're a smart guy and have the ability to care about other issues, as well. I didn't really think about these issues until my brother got me to research and consider the plight of animal rights.

I'd like to see a quick response from those who call for more humane treatment of animals "hippies" and "loons:" how many of you feed your pets from the table, let them sleep in your bed, and would cry at their mistreatment?

Pets aren't bred as food. Ridiculous argument.
