If You Support Derek Dooley....

I have been reading and researching Derek Dooley all afternoon. I think all n all this may just turn out to be a very good hire for us. I am willing to give this guy a fair chance. He seems to be a breath of fresh air after the Lane wreck. Derek has some really good coaches already in place here. Kippy Brown , Jim Chaney, James Cregg, Willie Mack Garza, Lance Thompson, David Reaves and Aaron Ausmus and if they stay we really have a good chance.

Derek will need to find a really good Defensive Coordinator (I know it won't happen but I wish Monte would come back, I don't think he wanted to go in the first place but he won’t) and then all we need is to hire a good defensive line coach.

So folks, I know we were burned once but I don’t think we are going to get burned again. Give this team a chance. I think we may be pleasantly surprised. GO VOLS!;)

Welcome Coach - We hope you do a great job here at Tennessee. I don't know if Mike Hamilton mentioned it or not, but we are also in need of a new athletic director. I understand you have experience in that position, and the job is yours if you want.

Thanks for being our new Head Football Coach, and New Athletic Director.

I will be behind our Coach and Team, I don't really support Hamilton's hire. I think his job is in jeopardy, we went backwards with this hire no doubt.

If you support this hire of Derek Dooley then post in here.

If you do not support the hire of Derek Dooley, then don't do a damn thing and get out.

I for one support this decision. I don't understand why everybody says this is a bad hire. Was Lane Kiffin a good hire going off his record? Hell no.

Did you know he is the son of of legendary University of Georgia head football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley?

Did you know he was the recruiting coordinator for Nick Saban at LSU, which landed 2 number 1 classes in his time.

Everybody around here seems to hate Saban, but will admit he is an awesome coach! Well if Nick Saban likes this guy enough to have him on his staff (LSU to Miami) for 6 years then he's good enough for me.

I just wanted to start this thread so when he proves all of you nay sayers wrong we can look back at who supported this hire!

GO VOLS!!
AND
GO DEREK DOOLEY!

We'll see how good of a hire he is in a couple of years. If he can coach like his dad then we are golden. If he has loyalty like his dad then we wont have another coach til i retire(30 more years)

I too agree add a good defensive coordinator and we will have better than we started with last season....What a way to rebound and get ahead in the game...Hats off to Mike hamilton....The pedigree of this guy alone is good and his coaching experience is what we needed from the start! Forget the press conference get this guy in our recruits door now! Use the jet and get him there quickly the press can wait!!! Welcome coach Dooley...Glad you are here!:clapping:

Tonight @ 9:00PM Dooley will become the 22nd Head Football Coach at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He will have my full support. On the other hand, I am disgusted with Mike Hamilton's performance. I believe Hamilton should be fired immediately after the press conference and replaced by Condredge Holloway.

Hey at least he was voted coach or the year in LA. Maybe next year if were lucky he will win coach of the year in TN. Give me a break with this hire. Fire Hamilton @ 9:01pm

Now I'm just curious how he does with our recruits and the ones coming in this weekend!

If Kippy Brown is not allowed to stay on as our staff, then I will be the one to tie the knot for Mikey.

New member, long time reader, NO TROLL! Long read ahead!!!!!!

Let me start by saying that I love my Vols and not just the football team. I have personnel knowledge of both college and pro sports and would like to make some points in this thread for others to ponder.

1. Although I love my vols, I have to admit that they are not the “program” that I would like to believe in my heart they are nationally. Facts are facts. Look at the last two coaching searches.
2. L.K. – The person was a rental and anyone with any sports acumen would know this. The staff was mercenaries plan and simple. The fact he left for the job he really desired should shock no one. The way he done it and the timing was deplorable.
3. Hiring a new coach – Guys please. If you are a coach at any decent/national program and watched what the press done to L.K., would you really do the same thing to your program to come to UT and be torn apart? NO!
4. Competition. Who wants to face Florida, Georgia, LSU and Aladambama on a regular basis and try to keep a job? Let us face it; this is an up hill battle to sell.
5. Recruit – Here is the key word in college now. God you guys loved this word a couple of weeks ago. TN does not have that many blue chips so we have to go to the big five to get them. (GA, FL, CA, TX, LA). Therefore, you need connections.
6. Pete- If he stays at USC then L.K. is still in K-Town and everyone is still in Wonderland.

I did not know Dooley when all this began and I am still concerned for the program. If it was me, I would have signed Kippy to a 3yr and bought time to bring in our “coach in waiting”, which is the smart and current trend these days. However, let us take a closer look at our new coach.
Dooley – Recruiting coordinator for two number one classes in LA. The same LA that we need connections. Learned under Satan (oops, Saban) and I believe he is good in college. Dad is a legend in GA and he was All-State there under a state coaching legend. Note: GA – another state you need. The guy would have been on the same fast track as Muschamp & Strong (whom he gave recommendation to get them started) if he would had stayed in football instead of going into law. In closing, give this a chance, it could pay off for us in the long run and if not what choices did we really have. Sorry for poor grammar, spelling, typo’s…….drinking that TN happy juice!

Hamilton is a great "Man." The kind of man I want my son to be. Do any of you want his job, really? Hamilton is he a man you know has the best interest of UT? Look at the mess UT Football is in now. Hell, you have to have Bruce Pearl size Balls to take this job. I don't know Dooley, but think about his experience just growing up in his home. Do you think he is going into this "without a clue?" Who was his first call for advise to? Hell he was born for this opportunity. Think of the resources he can call on? Who gave him letters of recommendation for his resume? This may be the biggest mistake in the history of UT, but who would you want to send your son to for guidance and opportunity. Hell when hasn't UT been the "underdog"; and how have we usually done as the underdog. This is another chapter in a long saga of UT sports. I know its scattered thoughts, but they're mine. I'm a "bird dog" in business and live by my instincts, I just have a feeling........:crossfingers:

I said it's great to be a Tennessee Volunteer!
We should all just quietly bear the slings and arrows of the haters who will trash us for a second tier pick and let the results speak for themselves.

I support the coach of the University of Tennessee.

We found a coach, now lets sign some recruits and get to spring practice!!!
