If you support this hire of Derek Dooley then post in here.
If you do not support the hire of Derek Dooley, then don't do a damn thing and get out.
I for one support this decision. I don't understand why everybody says this is a bad hire. Was Lane Kiffin a good hire going off his record? Hell no.
Did you know he is the son of of legendary University of Georgia head football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley?
Did you know he was the recruiting coordinator for Nick Saban at LSU, which landed 2 number 1 classes in his time.
Everybody around here seems to hate Saban, but will admit he is an awesome coach! Well if Nick Saban likes this guy enough to have him on his staff (LSU to Miami) for 6 years then he's good enough for me.
I just wanted to start this thread so when he proves all of you nay sayers wrong we can look back at who supported this hire!
GO VOLS!!
AND
GO DEREK DOOLEY!
Hey GVWT.I don't know how far back you go with the Vols, but Phil Fulmer put some fine teams on the field for many years that represented us well. Granted, he got lazy and lost his focus the last few years and, sadly, I also thought it was time for him to go. However, there are no bigger supporters of the University of Tennessee than Phil and Vickie Fulmer. To attack him in such a vitriolic manner speaks volumes about you; not him. I'm 64, UTK class of '68 and have functioned very well in society for some time now. That is until I run in to some self-annointed know-it-all and then it's been pretty much a throw-down. Still standin' after all these years, in Nashville, BTW. GO VOLS!!!
Very cool post, man. 100% agree with every word. Hell, it's the American way, at least for now.We were going for a "splash" hire, I thought. Well, I suppose double D's will always make a bigger splash than a b or c cup. Seriously, though, this is not a bad hire. You have to consider the timing, etc. If this guy can put together a breathtaking, star-studded, recruiting oriented staff while keeping the core of what we have together, he could change not being a bad hire to being a very good, maybe even great hire. Regardless, if this is who we get, I will support him until he proves he can't do the job.
