There are so many threads on Dooley, I don't know where to post. He's the guy. He's been recommended by Muschamp & Saban. He coached at LSU with CLT so that gives me some comfort in that he will probably keep him on staff. We're moving on so can anyone answer the question of what offense/defense did they run at La Tech?

Dooley is the only man to be the HC and AD at the collegiate level. He is a hard worker and recruiter. I will finally sleep well tonight. Good riddance Kiffin. Great hire Hamilton. We did not need a big splash hire, we needed a worker.

I think he was the best candidate that we seriously had a shot at (not the pipe dream names like the OK head coach or the former Tama Bay head coach). I do not want a west coast coach with no southern ties--been there and done that. I think it is a very good hire. The people on here just don't know what they are talking about (they wanted some big name that just does not exist).

I have always been proud to be a Volunteer fan until right now. My reason for disappointment is not our coaching decision. It is the 100s of "fans" that say they will not support the Vols if Dooley is the coach.

When I became a sports fan, my father taught me that we support our teams through thick and thin. We may dispute some decisions, but we always stay committed to our teams. All of you "Volunteer faithful" are no better than Lane Kiffin if you chose to jump ship now.

I am a Volunteer. I bleed orange. I will support Derek Dooley if he is our coach.

If Dooley is the man then I am all for him and will support him to the quick. But food for thought is he any better than kif leaving his team in the lurch. just wondering.

As long as he doesn't try to replace Smokey with a bulldog version, I'll still bleed orange and white.

The most important thing to do if you are truly part of Vol Nation is to show up at the first home game, plant your buns in the seat and start yelling like crazy for those kids in Orange on the field.

Dooley might not have been the best choice, but if he's the coach, he's the coach of the Vols and those kids need all the fan support they can get right now. We can't forget how many of them must feel right now being betrayed by "that coach" that I refuse to call by name. They need to know that they won't be betrayed by the true Vol fans!!!

Learn from your mistakes people! Good God. Hire Fulmer to help with the team, that is the most insanely pathetic idea I have ever heard. Keep Fulmer the hell away from this football team. You saw what 1 year away from Fulmer can do. Recruiting was better and our QB wasn't getting death threats. Hell, he has a shot at the NFL now. THE NFL!!! Do you remember what it was like under Fulmer? How do you people function in society? How? Go have your brains checked. This isn't 1998. Get over it.

Hey GVWT.I don't know how far back you go with the Vols, but Phil Fulmer put some fine teams on the field for many years that represented us well. Granted, he got lazy and lost his focus the last few years and, sadly, I also thought it was time for him to go. However, there are no bigger supporters of the University of Tennessee than Phil and Vickie Fulmer. To attack him in such a vitriolic manner speaks volumes about you; not him. I'm 64, UTK class of '68 and have functioned very well in society for some time now. That is until I run in to some self-annointed know-it-all and then it's been pretty much a throw-down. Still standin' after all these years, in Nashville, BTW. GO VOLS!!!

If you support this hire of Derek Dooley then post in here.

If you do not support the hire of Derek Dooley, then don't do a damn thing and get out.

I for one support this decision. I don't understand why everybody says this is a bad hire. Was Lane Kiffin a good hire going off his record? Hell no.

Did you know he is the son of of legendary University of Georgia head football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley?

Did you know he was the recruiting coordinator for Nick Saban at LSU, which landed 2 number 1 classes in his time.

Everybody around here seems to hate Saban, but will admit he is an awesome coach! Well if Nick Saban likes this guy enough to have him on his staff (LSU to Miami) for 6 years then he's good enough for me.

I just wanted to start this thread so when he proves all of you nay sayers wrong we can look back at who supported this hire!

GO VOLS!!
AND
GO DEREK DOOLEY!

Is he bringing Saban?

man i have never been so dissapointed in ut fans then this.dooley was ad and a hc,the guy has a work ethic,he has to. i mean last time i checked AD has alot more on his plate then just football , he turned the football program around completely there , the last time i looked at probowl selections lots of guys there come out of wac sunbelt smaller conferences.those coaches recruit whats left after the pwr conferences sift through all the rivals top 150"s the 5 and 4 stars they can reconize talent, other people cant. CUM was not out of the best conference and look what he did . he found talent no one else wanted and won and we have all these guys on here bashing dooley. im sure some recruits look at this sight and are getting doubts about coming because of bonehead remarks like he want last 2 or 3 years.he will salvage a top 20 maybe even top 15 class and we have plenty of players left at UT.we may be hurting in the O-line but we have playmakers in the backfield.we will be bowl elgible next year and he will get us a top 5 class in 2011.we are fine stop trying to run off what recruits we do have and give him a chance

The context in what CDD would be doing is day and night compared to what Monte's brat lil boy (like others, I refuse to type his pathetic name) did. Everyone knows LaTech isn't an end-job. It's a stepping stone, and always will be. UT is what MOST would consider to be an end-job.
