That's been my point the whole time. All of Davis' "success" was in the same era as Fulmer's success. And as Phil shows, it doesn't matter.
I still am not convinced Davis is not a one season wonder in a weak conference.
All I have evidence of is that he can recruit...and that he can't get his players to play to their potential. (The fact that Coker won a NC with Davis' players is evidence of that)
National Championships won by Meyer at Utah: 0
National Championships won by Bryant at Maryland, Kentucky and Texas A&M: 0
The misses just keep on coming. That's not an apt comparison...
My point is that Butch Davis has still done nothing as a head coach to warrant all this hype. One good year in a weak conference does not equal a good coach.
Being able to recruit players and not win with them at Miami is also not evidence of a good coach, regardless of any NCAA sanctions.

How long have you been following his career or how much research have you done?
Whatever, screw it. You all are right. I'm wrong.
Butch Davis is the greatest coach in the history of football and I am an idiot with a low IQ.
We can't have an intelligent discourse because hatvol always has to be right and anyone who disagrees with him is "evidence of the intelligence of our fanbase"...
how can you defend our offense?
how can you defend our offense?
It's the whole team. You keep pointing out the offense, other's point out the defense (like myself), other's point out specials teams, some point out other things and yada yada yada. At the end of the day though, you have to have the talent on both sides of the ball to win. We don't and that's sad but it's the truth. I don't think that Mike Leach or any other offensive minded coach would do much with the talent we have. Hell, look at Randall Cobb, damn we missed out and he was right under our noses. We suck, no matter how you argue it, so don't just blame one person.
You're definitely going to have to elaborate.
Your right you win and lose as a team, but when the Offense gives up 13 points
The defense doesn't allow a score, and the offense can only muster 7 points blaming special teams and the defense seems laughable
we dropped from 114 to 116 in Total Offense
and went from 11th to 8th in Total Defense
So it shouldn't be that hard to see where the problem lies
Wyoming has a better 3rd down defense than we do. If that's not bad, I don't know what is. We also lost to them, so how can anyone defend the defense or anything else on this team with the record we have. It's worse than 05.
