If I Were Mike Hamilton...

Not sure?
I mean, TTU throws the ball all around.. but that woods running back can get the job done.

Is the Texas Tech offense actually a spread? Or just a major pass happy offense? What makes an offense a spread - other than having 4-5 receivers on the field half the time.

They call it a pass happy "Spread" pretty much the same offense that Hal Mumme used at UK, the "AIR RAID OFFENSE".

The Texas Tech offense is nothing more than an offense based on throwing 60+ times a game. It's meant to over hype QB's until they go into the combine and drop like a rock and eventually move on to selling real estate or fast food. Other than Crabtree Leach has proven nothing on the recruiting front. With the speed of SEC defenses his system would be awful.

Tim Couch?

Muschamp
Gruden
Cowher

No particular order any of those three I would be happy with...

I like some of Hat's selections and the logic behind eliminating the Gruden's and Cowher's and Butch Davis. I am the most intriqued with Steve Sarkisian. He is young, runs a pro style offense, coaches QB's and is hungry for a HC position. No one can discredit the success the USC Trojans have accomplished over the past 3 years. They have played in numerous big games during the regular season and score alot of points and play decent defense. The challenge of the SEC could be the deciding factor to obtain him and he has expressed interest in the Washington HC job.

I know what his offense is but I just wasn't sure if it should actually be correctly labeled as the "spread offense". You're dead wrong about it not working in the SEC though. Everyone considered the Big 12 defenses to be on par (or atleast comparable) with the SEC defenses. But as soon as they got 4-5 great QBs this past few years and all started putting up good numbers, everyone assumed they had no defenses and are weak.

The Big 12 > The SEC this year.

I'm not convinced about these USC assistants that are the hot commodity seemingly every year. They have teams with superior talent in a weak conference that plays no defense, so their numbers are going to look good. I feel the same way about Lane Kiffin.

His offense worked pretty darn good when he was OC at Kentucky..Leach could come in to UT and install that offense and everybody would have a hard time defending it...Defense's would be dragging by the middle of the 3rd quarter from all the running they would be doing...I really like his style and think it would really be awesome here at UT. :good!:

I have never seen the buzz that surrounds Kiffin unless your talking about his dad Monte. The PAC 10 is weak but USC plays some good non conference games and I remember watching them shut down Arkansas with Felix Jones and McFadden when we could not.

Did McFadden play in that game???

My 5
1. Davis- just to check
2. Patterson
3. The Kiffin Duo (Lane w/ Monte as DC) and that is only if Monte will come too.
4. Venables
5. As much as I hate to say it... Leach. I despise his offense but it puts points on the board.

His defense at Texas isn't exactly ripping it up considering the talent available.

Venables' defense has given up quite a few points to relatively weak competition themselves (Kansas, K-State, Nebraska to a much lesser extent than the other two).

Although I am also not sold on Muschamp.

That's about all i need to hear to be honest. I'll take it.

Do we bring in the staff of the coach we hire if it is say.. Leach, Patterson, or another head coach..? Or do we hire them seperately?

You let the new head coach assemble his staff.

What the crap has Butch Davis ever done to make so many fans want him to come here?? That just perplexes me that anyone would want him to come here. I really hope they get a big name and accomplished coach and not pick someone from the "good ole boy" club.
