If I Were Mike Hamilton...

I would be making phone calls to representatives of the following individuals, in order:

1. Gary Patterson.
2. Lane Kiffin.
3. Todd Graham.
4. Brian Kelly.
5. Jim Haslett.
6. Steve Sarkisian.
7. Mike Leach.
8. Brent Venables.
9. Jim Harbaugh.
10. Mike Riley.

I like the candidates. I would go with Patterson at number one also, but in now way would I even consider Mike Leach, not at all. I'd insert Gruden on the list also.

Leach would be an EXCELLENT hire. You have to accept the quirkiness that is his personality but he would bring a great offense to Tennessee.

I think that would be a wasted call. So would one to Butch Davis. The idiotic decision to keep Fulmer after '05 cost us any shot at Davis.

Yeah, Bill King on 560 am here in Nashville has been saying the same thing for weeks now, but stated today that someone close to Butch contacted him and said that may not be entirely true. Bill said that his source stated something like, "Butch wanted very badly to be at a program where he had a legit shot at a nat'l title."

Not sure if there is any validity to this, but thought it was interesting b/c it doesn't seem money was the main objective.

Pete Carroll aint coming to Tennessee so don't waste your phone minutes. I have spoken to kids around the area that have been recruited by Brian Kelly, and all that they have continually said is that he is an arrogant prick, that believes no one is better than he himself, and is very cocky. I think he is a hell of a coach, but I was surprised by the kids comments.

What kind of offense does Patterson run at TCU?
Yes, that is me being uninformed.. but JW

One of the best rushing offenses in the country

That's about all i need to hear to be honest. I'll take it.

Do we bring in the staff of the coach we hire if it is say.. Leach, Patterson, or another head coach..? Or do we hire them seperately?

Butch Davis
Gary Patterson
Lane Kiffin

Those three.

Brian Kelly and Brent Venables would be the next calls after those.

I agree with Dawson ,plus Leach is good friends with Donald Trump who could make some nice contributions. An average Tennessee defense with that kid of offense would be hard to beat.

Mike Gundy
Butch Davis
Brian Kelly
Lane Kiffin

I wanna throw patterson in there, because I like what I have heard and value/trust Hat's and Groves' opinions... But i dunno as much about him.

I know since they lost to Oklahoma, TCU has torn everybody to shreds.

To all the "Leachers" out there, getting a HC who runs the spread offense means we do not get Boyd or Oku.

Don't know if this has already been said, but I feel it should be thrown out there since these are 2 of our best commits.

That's not a positive. But those kids won't matter down the line. They only have so much eligibility - hopefully our new coach is here longer than 4 years.

Well I would call them in the following order

1. Jon Gruden (not sure if he's gonna come, wish he will)
2. Cowher (I personally believe hes not going to come)
3. Peterson (Boise State) (a good option)
4. Lane Kiffin
5. Butch Davis
6. Pete Carroll(not possible anyway)
7. Muschamp

Why do we not get Boyd or Oku in that situation?

From what I have read and heard, they both do not want to play for a spread offense. I can't find a quote right now, but I have seen that a couple of times today.

Gotcha, didn't know if there was a source or just speculation.

If you know Carrol is not possible, why call him? And if you wanted to include fantasy coaches, why would you ever put him after Peterson or Kiffin. Same with Davis.

Is the Texas Tech offense actually a spread? Or just a major pass happy offense? What makes an offense a spread - other than having 4-5 receivers on the field half the time.
