He can hire Cut to coach basketball and Chavis can take the over the baseball program. We'll be in great shape.

That way the baseball team would be highly regarded in the media. However, still give up 7 runs in the 9th inning to lose the game because the outfielders were 15 yards to deep. They don't want to give up the long ball.

Fulmer would be a great fit as AD. I am all for it. He loves the UT and would bust his butt for the school. He would be great at fund raising just like he was as head coach. I believe that Fulmer and the entire coaching staff became complacent in his later years. He would embrace UT traditions. I also believe that he would not hinder Coach Dooley at all. Fulmer was 152-52 won 2 sec championships, 1 National championship and played for, I believe, 3 more Sec championships in 17 years. That is an excellent record for a coach in the sec. Fire Hamilton and Hire Fulmer.

Anybody who doesn't think Fulmer wouldn't have his nose in every aspect of the football team is crazy. Wait a minute....Phillip get off the board!

Fulmer's first order of business would be to fire Derek Dooley and hire his old buddy David Cutcliffe with Randy Sanders returning as the offensive coordinator.

then he would Rename Shields-Watkins field. It would become Fulmer Field at Neyland Stadium.

Next, he would fire Bruce Pearl and hire some no name Don Devoe type to put UT basketball back where he thinks it belongs - in the cellar.
.
Then, upon completing those tasks he would:

A)look at the film

B)work like heck to get things fixed, including putting black on the helmets and making black the primary uniform color.

C)give himself a contract extension and a raise.

Tennessee would then fall to finishing 5th or 6th regularly in the SEC East.

On the bright side, Kentucky & Vandy would win sometimes so those would become true rivalries again.

Phil Fulmer was the worst thing to happen to Tennessee football. Even though he won a NC in 98, Johnny Majors actually had the program headed in the right direction when Fulmer took over. Remember when TN beat Notre Dame in southbend. They were a tough football team back then and gradually lost that toughness through the Fulmer era. Let's hope DD can bring back some of the toughness that has been lost in Tennessee football.

There are other more qualified individuals for AD!

Exactly.

A threat that Fulmer will be AD is the last line of defense to save Hamilton's job. If Fulmer wants Hamilton fired, he simply needs to state he has no interest in the AD job.

The most shocking thing is that no one from the University has contacted me about the AD job. I guess that's a good thing though. I couldn't fit it into my busy schedule.

Would Fulmer need some help on the business end? Yes. Would he represent the University well? You better believe it. Does he know athletics better than Mike Hamilton. Oh yeah. I think he would make a fine choice. It would be nice to have a Vol running the program again.

wow, u do realize football is in the current state due mainly to fulmer. he would be awful

I like to call it the Fidel Castro syndrome!

Scare the people into thinking the next leader could possible be worse!

We all know she can't coach BB forever. Why not offer her? She has been a success building women's BB for the last 30 years.
I do think we need a President first of all, well before we can ever begin to start talking about an AD.

There's a thread about this somewhere.

And as soon as Hamilton is fired someone will contact him and convince him that the university needs him. Of course.

Some of your post astonish me. Those of you that think that Fulmer was the worst thing in the history of Tennessee football are incompetent idiots, and for those of you that state you would cease being a Tennessee fan if Fulmer is hired, never were fans to began with.

*grammar police*, you mean "begin". regardless, i don't think anyone here said Fulmer was the worst thing ever for TN fball. However if you think that Fulmers last 7 years were great years then I suggest you check into a mental facility. Many of us do believe Fulmer would be terrible at AD. Why? Football would be a disaster, he would have his nose into how Dooley ran the program.

I continue to be amazed at the negativism. Looking at his body of work (to be misinterpreted by some young, empty headed flat bellies), the man was a winner and still is.
