if Fulmer does replace Hamilton

so, he gets full credit for taking us to national title level, but only partial credit for going all Nero on us? Do not get.

Actually, if you can subdue logic while simultaneously forgetting reason.....and you clap really hard.......it makes perfect sense.

Perfect. Sense.

I think you are a little tough on him and what he achieved at UT. He is the one who took us to prominence. You know when you say, we don't have to settle for that that, we're TN. Well he is the one responsible for taking us to that level.

no he's not. If he had taken over a UT program in the same shape any other recent UT coach had to he would have been out in 4-6 years.

Take a look at some of the greatest coaches in history.. all of them have a rough stretch of 4-6 season where they're not on top of college football.

how many go 10 years without a conf title and keep their jobs? How many UT coaches have gone that long?

I'm not saying I disagree with him being let go, but saying he is responsible for the destruction of our program is a little harsh.

he is very responsible for the current state of our program. Putting him back in a leadership role would be a mistake. He's getting paid plenty by UT already for his contributions

He would screw the basketball (intentionally) team and probably screw the football team too (unintentionally).

if you define success as depending on UsuK and Vandy bouncing field goals off of the posts and fumbling the ball 20 yards downfield to sustain drives against USCe, then yeah his last years were a rousing success ... not to mention losing to vandy and wyoming and having 2 losing seasons out of 4 .........

Until Fulmer's interview after the Oregon game, I would have completely supported his appointment to AD. Now, not so sure.

His interview was laughable. While I was sitting in the stands sulking in the 4th quarter I comforted myself with the thought that if Fulmer was here we would have been blown out by half. At least Dooley kept it close for a little.

Fulmer is an embarrassment. He has constantly taken shots at the football team. Everyone forgets that even in his fantastic run to the SEC East title we were destroyed by Florida and Bama.

If Fulmer were ever to return as Emperor to the throne, the UT fan base would be divided even more than it is now. Lots of fans would leave the UT program. No more University of Phil Fulmer. That is the crux of the UT problem.

What needs to happen is for all the big time boosters to sit Mike Hamilton down in the barbershop down the street on the Wednesday night meeting after the loss to Florida and start pressuring him.

Fans that would leave the UT program because of a hire they disagree with aren't really fans IMO. Good riddance, the University doesn't need people like that hanging around.

I'd remain a diehard fan ,but I wouldn't be attending anymore games. Every ticket I buy now is still funding his last salary.

UT fans don't need someone so divisive and volatile. He destroyed our football program singlehandedly. I can see that some are University of Phil Fulmer fans first and foremost.

Fulmer is a convenient scapegoat for the Hamilton fans to not face facts -- Hamilton is D.O.A. & it won't be Fulmer coming in.

i don't think its so much that the people are Hamilton fans as it is that not many people want Fulmer to be AD, ever. If Hamilton is replaced, so be it, just no Fulmer

I don't know why anyone would be a Hamilton fan. He is just a freakin AD.

See above. Only "Hamilton" FAN on here is MHF.

It's Florida week and I'm reading and posting in an AD thread.:ermm:

Uh, I'll remind you that I have him on my Director's Cup fantasy team, thank you very much.

Hopefully, his mom will start a thread to get everyone to vote him AD of the week, albeit amongst the 400 other posts where she passive-aggressively exhibits her poorly veiled hatred for Tennessee.

lets keep irrational and childish jokes aside

seriously, thoughts on how this might would affect Tennessee athletics.

a) are we royally screwed?

b) is there a chance he might do ok?
(assuming he doesn't take a micromanage approach to the football team)

Personally IDK if he's really qualified
and despite his lack of success in the later part of his coaching career I don't think anyone can doubt his loyalty and love for all things Tennessee.

still purely hypothetical but I'd like to hear your reactions without all the dramatic, passionate, blind hate.

stop for a min, and think....what if this does happen....

A) UT Athletics is beyond royally screwed if Fulmer replaces Hamilton.

B) Not a chance of Fulmer being a decent AD.

Just my two cents.

He's not qualified. The university knows we need a superman A.D. to come in a help us out. They won't settle for Fulmer, or Pat F'ing Summit, or any other scrub you all come up with. Hamilton may stay for longer than most expect although I wish that weren't true. I'm guessing Raleigh and Hammy get the boot together!
