I Remember.......

37 years ago from right now, the Friday night before the Alabama game was starting to roll on the Strip. Soon people were spilling out of the Cumberland Avenue bars and they shut it down between 17th and 23rd.

A Kerns bread truck attempted to maneuver through the mob. The truck's shipment of bread was seized by the crowd.

I remember when movies and TV shows had quicksand in them as a hazard the hero got stuck in. Seemed to be common in the 60s/70s but you never hear of it anymore

I remember it but wasn't there.

I do remember in 1982 that the cross bar from one of the goal posts made it out of the stadium and on to the strip just past 17th street and blocked all traffic. I followed it the whole way.

Hell of a party on the strip that night with the topper (for me) being Smokin' Dave and the Premo Dopes playing at Hobo's.

Good point. I haven't seen quicksand used in a long time.

I remember when buying groceries didn't feel like it took half your paycheck!

Gilligan's Island (probably several episodes) and Blazing Saddles to name two.

"Don't send a horse you idiot. Send a nxxxxr." Doubt that Mel B. would be able to get away with that one today. Or "the sheriff is a nxxxxr".

I remember growing up parents (most in our area) would beat your tail out in punlic for acting up. Middle of the store, Church, school, it didn't matter.

THIS^^^^ And, as a teen, screwing around in public and my parents knowing about it in seconds of the occurrence even though I was miles away. Damn phones!
