I have my doubts

He's a young, players coach type---the players will be easy to motivate, since he's closer to their age, instead of some old, 80-year old, out of touch, bowden type coach.

RNVol

You have something bothering you buddy. Just let it out, this can be therapy for you.

Is that how you qualified him as one of your choices, that he is a mentor of yours? No shame there, but your endorsement of Ford is based on less than UT's endorsement of Lane Kiffin. Pot and kettle.

How many current / former college or NFL head coaches have you "come across"? I'm just asking, but if that number is a small one, again, your endorsement of coach Ford rings hollow.

JMO.

Go Vols.
Many.

My father is a former college football coach who has had some jobs at major FBS programs.

That is all.

How did he improve the Raiders?

What players have said they loved him?

I understand your sticking up for Kiffin but

Look at 2006 and post-Kiffin 2008, then look at 2007 and Kiffin-2008.

He had a better win % (not much)
More points per game
More yards per game
More first downs per game

I'll work later to find you the quotes - at work, wrapping things up. Trust me.

I wasn't against hiring Kiffin but after listening to the news conference I sure do like what I was hearing. Give the guy a chance!

I'll give the guy a chance.

But I'm not going to hide that I don't have faith in him.

There is this little school in Southern California that would beg to differ.

Indeed. I don't recall how Reggie Bush did that year...

And you know...considering he was the passing game coordinator in 2004...someone remind me how Matt Leinart did that year...

I enjoyed the Press Conference and it was weird to see the term "new head coach at Tennessee" because I was too young to remember when Fulmer took over.

But although the idea of having Lane Kiffin who's a young coach with a defensive genius for a father seems good in general I just can't get excited over it.Ever since the news broke that he was our next coach I just can't grasp the idea of Kiffin being able to follow in the footsteps of past UT greats such as Neyland,Majors, and Fulmer.

I previously stated that we shouldn't hire Kiffin because he proved he was one of the worst coaches I've ever seen when it comes to game preparation and because he never showed that "it" factor a coach needs to motivate men.

I don't see how it will translate into the college ranks with young men who are even harder to motivate. But on the contrary I believe his name and somewhat familiarity among young athletes will help him recruit some very good talent to UT.

I'm hoping for the best and I hope one day I can be proud of Kiffin and have faith in him to restore my ego when it comes to college football but until then all I can say is that I miss Phil.

Why does everybody that has some profound revelation, most of the time more resembling an unoriginal brain fart, have to start a new thread to impress us with their sudden enlightenment? Guess it's just me being kind of cranky, being it's getting close to Christmas.

That's what I was thinking. The fact that the TC wanted Danny Ford over Kiffin proves how idiotic he is. I'd rather keep Fulmer than get Danny Ford.

I was in Arkansas for a game- can't remember what year, mid to late 90s though. We had them beat late in the game and I think he thought we were running up the score. My wife taped the game for me back home. The TV network caught him saying, about our QB "I hope be blows a knee out." Ford denied it and claimed he said "I hope he takes a knee out there" but the tape didn't lie.

Scumbag. Hated him ever since.

I'm not a racist at all.

I voted for Obama.
Hate to break it to you, but nothing you have written makes a lick of sense, and it certainly smacks of latent racism.

Also, you =

Wasn't Danny Ford forced to resign at Clemson...and fired from Arky? And then Houston Nutt immediately took his players from a 4-7 season and grabbed a share of the SEC West?

Ford won a National Championship by cheating (Clemson was put on probation almost immediately following) and left Clemson while under another NCAA investigation.

Pure scum.
