Actually found your anti-monopoly law rhetoric to be more of your typical ranting so I made an honest remark. Without government intervention, monopolies would run wild. The current Comcast was killed due to government intervention. If you think that one cable company, one cell phone company, and one landline company wouldn't happen you need to wake up. When you own the delivery system, you own the product. My comment may seem obtuse to you, but it's closer to reality in light of the current thread than your comment.
My own personal idea of anarchism is to have the freedom of association. Either you're free to choose who you'd like to participate in commerce or a relationship with, or you're not.
You can't be less or more free, either you're free, or you're not.
The whole notion of central planning has failed throughout history. People always think they know best when it comes to how the social order should be. Without exception you always end up with a element of the population that is considered outside the conventional thinking. In other words, the rebels, the rule breakers. The state makes this happen through laws and regulations.
Albert Jay Nock wrote in 'Our enemy the state' that when ever state power increases, social power has no choice but to decrease. Usually, we never see a reversal of these actions.
This is an interesting read on the subject.

The truth is, no one knows what's best for society, as people have different wants and needs. Something you may find distasteful may not be so to another. Such is life. And such is anarchy.
It's all about living your own life the best way YOU can.
This is a silly way to silence those who oppose the state. You can't live without using government property and services.
News flash: the only monopolies that have ever lasted are the ones that are supported by or run by the government.
The way to kill monopolies is by opening up competition, not regulating an industry to such an extent that only the most powerful company can survive.
Quit regurgitating the mindless spew you learned in middle school and do some of your own damn research.
chicken and egg. usually the government picks an already established company that dominates its particular market. then yes the government comes in and helps spread its reach into either a horizontal or vertical monopoly but the fact of the matter it was still a monopoly before the governments get involved. the government isn't going to randomly choose a struggling company that can't get the job done (or when it does, solyndra, it blows up in their face)
Natural monopolies collapse eventually... unless they are propped up by government legislation. Then they can possibly last forever.
by the same caveat we don't know that the government is making bad decisions for us. (in general not talking about specifics because i have a list) we operate under even a more limited view point than the government does. If we knew what the government does, (in our government that would mean lowering everyone's IQ) maybe what they decide is the best option. Just because option C is the best choice doesn't always mean there is an option C. we the citizens will always feel oppressed. even in an anarchistic society, society has dictated we live that way still seems like oppression. Maybe I like the level of freedom i have now with the luxuries afforded me by the system than i would "true" freedom and a ****ty world where progression never happens and i am subject to the constant idiocy of my neighbors instead of Washington.
As I examine my life, and my daily routine, I can see anarchy everywhere....
...Government stifles innovation and production. We have no true idea of what an actual free market would bring, as we've never lived under absolute freedom.
Basically the government is a myth. They promise to do all these great things, yet fall flat at every turn. Unless the goal is starting wars, of course they are exceptional in that respect. All government really does is take stuff from us. Anything a government can do, a free people, acting of their own volution can always do much better.
As I examine my life, and my daily routine, I can see anarchy everywhere. I don't need the government to wake me up, I don't need government to take me to work, I don't need government in relationships I have with people. Yet, they always seem to want to stick their noses in our buisness don't they? The true definition of anarchy is to not have rulers. We still want rules, just no "ruling class"

Post fail. You hate government, we all get that. I'll take exception with 2 points because I don'
t want to spend all day on your post. "Government is a myth." Just explain to me who I wrote that check to on April 15th then, AND what happened to that money. I am not saying that government is good, or efficient, or anything remotely approaching competent, but it does exist. Break a law, and who is it that puts you in the can, and prosecutes your freedom whether it be physical or fiscal?
Government stifles innovation. True to a point, but you are painting with a real broad brush.
NASA is a good example of innovation where government was directly responsible. I am pretty sure that private industry at the time was not real interested in that quest.
The majority of your post is just more "I hate government" drivel.
do you have an example? I admit i am limited to the US in my history, and as economics wasn't a concern for me i dont have a lot of examples that come to mind.
why in general does a natural monopoly collapse?
The myth comes in when they promise to do such great things for us, and only end up taking from us and we're left with even less Liberty as a result.
Government stifles innovation with laws and regulations, you site nasa as an example of good government. Remember, government has no money. Where did the funding come from, the people of course. For every perceived good they do, there are countless projects that our money is outright wasted.

Your first paragraph contradicts itself.
The last time I looked, as far as this country goes, we started out as a free people acting in our own volition. We choose to have government (didn't have to) and what form of government by our own free will and then let it go to ****.
What makes you think anarchy would have any better results over time.
I'd argue the people were duped into our current form of government. Basically, we exchanged one ruling class, for another.
I don't know if anarchy would be better over time, all I want is to live my life exercising my own talents to be exactly what I want to be, without interference from an overblown bureaucracy.
I would argue that no matter what this will always be the case since the strongest/smartest will always rule the weak.
You can do that now, yes there are hurdles to jump but no where else in the world do you have the opportunity you do here.
