Hypothetical Situation...

Maybe not but if I'm a moderately hot commodity or successful coach I do not take the 3 time divorcee with baggy eyes that thinks she's still a deva.
I'm sorry but we look a hot mess and coaches know you get 3-5 years tops in the SEC even if you are pretty good. If I'm on the upswing I'm not signing onto this monumental task unless no one else is calling. hence DD

It's more the really sweet girl who decided to marry her hot high school sweetheart, who was a punk, left her, then starting dating the loyal nerd to help her confidence, and then dumped him for the real deal.

We are in better shape now than when DD was hired. I doubt the next guy will be pulled in a week before signing day. I know it isn't easy, but there are factors in play that should inspire more confidence for a perspective coach. Dave Hart is part of that.

What's the definition of insanity? Repeating the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That's what we're getting out of Dooley.

What do you know about Dooley that is not out there?

There are a lot that want him gone and you can see it on the board, but your approach with Dooley is different than the others....It is not one of desperation...

The KY was the eye opener for me with Dooley....but I am not beyond giving him another year....

Right now and will say it again I truly believe we cannot get the right coach here.....not because of the money but because of their desire to come here...

Dooley is the setup guy for the next coach....I do believe but it is going to take more time to get to the next coach than 2 years.....so what is the rush.....lets get what we want when the time is right.....

Shocking development, alert tvols75. Hubbs and Rob Lewis both essentially say that Wilcox will entertain offers in the offseason, and he's not a lock to stay. I understand they're merely stating the obvious, but some on here act as if our coaches would never consider leaving.

I agree but my point is cutting bait this year and paying 2 former coaches while hiring a 3rd for a heavy price tag seems like a good way to be in the gutter for the next 5-7 years. I also don't think good coaches want this team this year. Next year is the sweet spot for all involved. Either DD does what he's paid to or the next guy does with finally a full roster of reasonably good talent.

Geesh, imagine if:

Wilcox leaves and takes Sirmon.

Baggett quits.

Thompson takes the UAB job.

Hiestand is fired.

All those are not unlikely IMO. That's five coaches out of nine, in a very crucial 2012 season, you will have to replace...yikes.

Good coaches will always entertain offers. I'm glad we have a coaching staff that is wanted by other teams. Baggett, Russell, Wilcox, Thompson, etc... are either wanted or have been wanted last year. Makes me confident that Dooley can pick good coaches.

Dooley is the man for 2012 without question.

It's the worst possible scenario for Dooley.

Even if the above happened? I'm not so sure. . .

A lot of this crap started when we hired Clawson......as OC that was the beginning of the end.....

I think we all know that Dooley is going to be the coach in 2012. I don't think anyone actually thought we'd end up firing him.

However, I think we're debating if he should be fired right now, not that he will be.

Typical head in the sand response. And yea, Dooley did an amazing job picking Thompson considering Kiffin was the one that hired him.

Whether you want to accept it or not, if these guys leave, good coaches won't want to come here. That's just reality.

Wilcox will milk us like a cow every year until he leaves. Same stuff as last year except now his stock is even more valuable to us because he's an even more important piece of the puzzle.

And Hamilton made him keep him (allegedly).

I agree 100%. My defense of Dooley is not because I think he will win the SEC but because I think he is the best option for our program at the time. There is no reason to roll the dice on another hire right now because we aren't close to competing for championships. Let Dooley load our roster with 3 or 4 top 10-15 classes THEN bring in someone else if you have to and who knows, he may surprise us with his coaching ability

And yea, you should definitely have lots of confidence he can pick good coaches since he's more than likely going to have to fire at least 2 of his current staff that he hired.

True. Hope we give him all he wants.

I strongly believe this staff is going to fall apart. At least the core of it that is. If so, I just cant see us going through with Dooley for another year.

That worse case scenario is why I asked if anyone here would promote Wilcox to head coach to keep him and all other staff and let go of DD and JC since it's rumored AD wanted JC gone anyway. That seems like a raw deal too and an unproven coach in Wilcox but you'd have some continuity on all but offense.

Look it's obvious you have an agenda vs. Dooley and that's fine. But the only one that is going to get fired is Hiestand. Even then, his college resume was pretty great. He also got us Baggett, who Bama went hard after and I believe the Cowboys also did, Sirmon, Wilcox, and Russell. All 4 of these coaches have and will always receive interest from other teams.
