Hypothetical Situation...

So they can Dooley and pay him 5 million..

Hire Charlie at 3 million

Pay Charlies boyout of 2.5 million..

10.5 million dollar move in first year.

do you think they pursue that risk?? No assurance that Charlie can turn program so it is a big risk.
I think Charlie will offset some of our natural recruiting disadvantages without question. I know enough Louisville boosters to know that it he has cleaned up a grease fire and recruited a few great Fla athletes in short order.

You and I both know that 10 mill is a drop in the bucket compared to what Hart has to pay for now...and that there were a lot of coaches that simply did not want to work for MH. This program is better off now than it has been. UT is already beginning the ascent from rock bottom as far as I'm concerned.

It's not like they'd have to pay it all at once. Fulmer is being payed in installments, correct?

dooley's buyout MIGHT be installments. depends on negotiations. Fulmer agreed to a monthly check. Dooley doesn't have to.

Louisville would want their 2.5 up front

Luke Stocker, Denarious Moore, Gerald Jones, Herman Lathers, Janzen Jackson, Justin Hunter, Da'Rick Rogers (Dooley got him), Tauren Poole (a 1000 yard back) and Bray is short of playmakers, but not UK or Ole Miss bad.

He was shorthanded on both lines of scrimmage, but he had some good young talent on the OL. They have gotten worse this year.

Of those you named only 2 played in 12 game this year. That proves my point doesn't it???

Any chance Jon Gruden would come here :)

As long as he hasn't taken an NFL HC job between now and then, I think you have to make him the top target with his Tennessee ties. Gruden seems happy in the NFL ranks, but if we throw some big time money around him, I think we would just might be able to get him here.

if Dooley doesn't work out, would be interested to see if he gets in mix and would make move. not totally convinced he would take UT over Louisville... ville has easier road to BCS bowls

Apparently he was very, very, very interested in the Miami job, and something scared him off. I already said, if Hart fires Dooley, then I'd call Gruden and offer him 7/49M.

It's a risk.

Are you willing to do it this year or next is the question.

It's coming, just when do you want to pay.

I'm just saying he would not be in my top 5. That's another situation that if it was down to canning Dooley or hiring Strong, I don't know what I would do.

I haven't seen anything to convince me yet that he's qualified for the job. I do concede he's doing a nice job for Louisville though.

And the odd thing to think about with this line is this; they're the second biggest in the conference, and yet, they can get no push. They're either a bunch of teddy bears, out of shape, or they have no technique whatsoever.

Bingo. The line play is something that needs to be analyzed in harmony with our runners. Together, there was a problem and it needs to be addressed.

Big East will not keep auto bid with conference realignment. Strong would jump at the opportunity to be a HC in the SEC.

I'm not pulling against Doolester. I just hope Spurrier doesn't bolt giving SC the first shot at Strong.

A good AA head coach would be a tremendous boost to recruiting here IMO.

I'm sure you're aware that his buyout clause and his clause requiring him to pay if he leaves for another school are not the same, right? If his buyout is 2.5, the penalty for leaving may or may not be 2.5.

What's the definition of insanity? Repeating the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That's what we're getting out of Dooley.

I disagree what we are getting out of DD is recruits and the semblance to the outside world that we stand behind our pick. We go desperation mode drop DD over Christmas and start lighting up the phone lines and the happiest guy will be the agent of the 10th guy we call.

Thats the only problem. Would he want to leave Florida for Knoxville? Most think no, but as I have stated and you have as well, money talks:thumbsup:

Have a much more reputable AD now...so your scenario may not be entirely true. There were some that simply didn't want to work for MH.

Very valid point.....

Strong's original contract signed Dec. 9, 2009 included a retention bonus of $1.25 million and a $1 million annuity starting at age 65 should Strong still be the Louisville coach on June 30, 2015. Those provisions remain and additional retention bonuses of $1 million in 2016 and $200,000 in 2017 and 2018 were added if Strong remains the coach on June 30 of those years.

A sliding buyout remains in Strong's contract but has been boosted. The maximum buyout was previously $1 million and has been raised to $2.5 million should Strong terminate the contract before June 30, 2012. The minimum buyout jumps to $1 million from $200,000 if Strong were to leave in the last two years of the contract.

I see. Just making sure we had the right amount.

Give me a minute. I'm not disappearing I just have to find them.

Not sure why but I am pulling for you to find them! But then again I for some very odd reason enjoyed watching LK beat the .... Out of UCLA sat night.

A damn posting encyclopedia....da' man.

Maybe not but if I'm a moderately hot commodity or successful coach I do not take the 3 time divorcee with baggy eyes that thinks she's still a deva.
I'm sorry but we look a hot mess and coaches know you get 3-5 years tops in the SEC even if you are pretty good. If I'm on the upswing I'm not signing onto this monumental task unless no one else is calling. hence DD

Strong is 51 years old. You mean 55?
