If Sirmon, Baggett, and Wilcox leave (not saying this is likely or unlikely to happen; it's purely a hypothetical), would you be in favor of keeping Derek Dooley?
Remember to consider that he's most likely going to also have to fire offensive assistants, so he would be faced with having to essentially hire an entirely new staff while being squarely on the hot seat. Consider whether you think this would affect his ability to hire quality assistants.
My answer is, under this scenario, I would be in favor of firing Dooley.
I don't think there is any scenerio that is going to get Dooley out the door any sooner than two years. Reasons --
1. Financial,
Having 20k empty seats per game next year gets you to 5 million and then some (approximately 7 mill)
2. Truly believe that he is here to restore the NCAA adminstrative side of football and not to win games or please fans, False and lol
3. No upper tier coach will to come at this time.
Why not, we have top-notch money, facilities, and a well-stocked team for the next 2 years
4. Nobody wants the responsibility of accepting the consequences of a failed replacement, they would want to be heroes if they have any self-confidence, which most good coaches do
5. You will never satisfy the masses on the hire.
70% are okay with Dooley, though that is beyond me. Dooley has set the bar so low that if someone comes in here and wins 8 per season, most everyone is satified
6. Dooley was also here to oversee the new football facility. Lol
7. It was a chance to hire him in the first place and therefore the Administrators and Board will take there time. Illogical. If you beleive that a hire is taking a chance then wouldn't a firing come faster
8. The father factor, this is a card nobody likes to address this issue, but it is mentioned in some circles. :crazy: 9. UT annointed into the Coaching world of the big boys and to let him go makes us look like idiots. Huh?

11. Look at our track record of getting rid of coaches prior to Lane Kiffin. It took us 5 years beyond Phil Fulmers due date and we kept giving him extensions and for non production...Maybe we learned how a bad coach can kill recruiting from that situation
12. People can rattle the cages all they want but until somebody sorts out and stablizes everything then we are stuck or have him....The stability argument doesn't work either. First, why stabilize a terrible situation. Second, if Dooley has another bad year then we are just postponing the inevitable instability. Better to be unstable now when 2012 could be promising than later when multiple players will be considering entering the draft.
13. Turnover kills an organization....If these coaches leave someone will and can justify more of a reason for keeping Dooley versus letting him go. Do you always vote for the incumbent President?
14. We cannot catch a break. Is buyout for letting go is near or on NSD. That does not start to decrease from 5 mil to 4 mil until 15 Feb 2014.A million dollars at UT is chump change if we start winning.

No one can get those extra 20k in there every Saturday! Not even Nick Saban! Empty seats are the sign of our times. Get used to seeing them unless you are a top 5 team and then there are even some. See LSU this past year.
