Hyams notes on coaching searches

Has anyone mentioned David Shaw of Stanford?

He's definitely a guy I'd love to have. However all indications are he's not leaving Stanford unless it's for the NFL. He's a Stanford alumni and I don't think he has any interest in coming to the SEC.

So in other words....Jimmy Hyams doesn't think UT will hire a coach at all this year.....maybe next year some coach somewhere will finally like us enough to accept job....

Please let the Hyams jokes pass on by...

Hyams source gave him these notes

-Mullen likes A&M
-Jimbo also likes A&M
-Mullen a great coach, labeled a "weird duck" was widely disliked by people at UF
- Shiano would jump on the UT job, would be a bad fit, very unlikeable
-Fuente does not like to move around
-Frost likely to Nebraska, if not Nebraska may stay put
-No way Patterson leaves
-Gundy not as happy as years past, but wife loves it there

UT search very cloudy with no clear frontrunner.

Well he has to come up with something to report. I doubt any of these sources have actually talked to Currie, and it's no big deal until he starts going to interview next week.

"UT will not have a coach next year, no one wants the job."

Sounds like aTm gets Fisher and we get Mullen. I, like previous posters, have a hard time seeing him taking a job he has to play MSU every year.

It's because of Gruden. That's all.

I'm certain his source hasn't spoken to Currie. He's not talking to anyone outside a very small circle. I firmly believe most of what's been "reported" has been made up

He can coach and recruite, what Tennessee needs right now!

Exactly and he would absolutely win here! But our fanbase and administration would rather hold onto our pride along with a ridiculous nearly 10 year grudge than win again.

NO WAY the AD would ever let him know anything. Currie knows the waters in Knoxville. Jimmy had no clue the Sunday Jones was Fired. Pennington asked him on the sports source "what are your sources saying". Jimmy claimed none of his sources would take his call.

To that point. He was clueless with the tennis coach hire and that is his thing, also the baseball hire.

He did not like that the old tennis coach was let go and changed his stance once the new one was hired.

He is just throwing names around to jobs. NO WAY Mullen would go to a rival in the same division.
