So there's a clear frontrunner? I'd say the search is cloudy is highly accurate. He didn't need to cite Currie, he was commenting on various coaches that have been mentioned in searches.
He certainly wouldn't need to cite Currie to say Jimbo likes A&M. It's unrelated
All I will say is this: The thought that "no one wants this job" is laughable. You can berate me, post nasty things about me in the media for years, boo me in the stadium, do whatever you want, but if I were hired tomorrow at the UT coaching job, I know one thing for sure, and that is no matter how successful or not I was, I will still be able to comfortably retire in 4 or 5 years with millions and millions in the bank. Money talks, and money will eventually be enough to attract a top flight coach.
If its true that the search is cloudy, we are still incompetent at the top.
Cloudy to everyone not named Currie. Currie strikes me as someone who wouldn't give a timetable unless he has in mind who he wants and how likely he can get them.
Refreshing to me to see a tight search with little information leaking. I'm almost sure all the leaks are on the side of agents angling for money for their clients.
Given the 5 million threads on how Gruden is coming here, I'd say he has exponentially more common sense than this board.
Bill Clark successfully navigated the ultimate dumpster fire in Birmingham. Someone with his grit and courage might do well at the SEC level.
Please let the Hyams jokes pass on by...
Hyams source gave him these notes
-Mullen likes A&M
-Jimbo also likes A&M
-Mullen a great coach, labeled a "weird duck" was widely disliked by people at UF
- Shiano would jump on the UT job, would be a bad fit, very unlikeable
-Fuente does not like to move around
-Frost likely to Nebraska, if not Nebraska may stay put
-No way Patterson leaves
-Gundy not as happy as years past, but wife loves it there
UT search very cloudy with no clear frontrunner.
He just gave a "list" without naming anyone he considers likely to be hired. I mean hell, I could do that. Hyams is so scared to death of being wrong, he never sticks his neck out for anything and is actually quite boring as a result.
Thanks for the non-info once again, Jimmy.

After the last two coaching hires, and because there is a crowded field of suitors, I would rather us just go with an interim coach as a caretaker until we find the right guy. I feel like with the early signing period and the competition to land a coach before he is picked up by another school, we are once again being rushed into a coaching hire, just like when we hired Dooley. Hope it is not the case.
